If the Dragons happen to...

The same can be said for each of the following teams who have contested the finals in the past 6 years but failed to win the premiership -
Roosters, Sharks, Warriors, Canberra, Newcastle, Parramatta, Cowboys, Souths. Your comments show either ignorance or a moronic rationale.

No one else is ever hyped up as much as the Dragons.

That's the burden u will carry once again.

Why?

Do you enjoy getting your hopes crushed?
Not at all. Regardless of the outcome for the remainder of the year I'm immensely proud of the club I support, a fantastic turnaround - 16th to 2nd is a massive achievement.

Yep, I don't see why though. In 92, 93 96 and 99, when we made the final I thought we exceeded expectations just by making the final. I thought we underperformed in 2005 when we met the Tigers in the semis and lost. It does not seem we will ever lose the tag, i think in part because other teams know we don't perform well when we are hyped.

Wow I cannot believe how uncommercial all the replies from non Dragons supporters are. How good would a full house at the SFS be?

As for the Dragons supporters I can understand given the current structure how you want use your home ground advantage. However this system has to change.

The league has to take these issues out of the hands of the clubs. The league should have the power to say these super clashes are played at appropriate grounds. A ground which holds 20,000 is not appropriate. God the AFL must think we are idiots.

hahahaha truth hurts huh?

It's soon that time of year the St Choke Illachokea Chokeans do their famous gag.

You can rattle off other team names and try to hide from it but it's the Dragons who haven't lived up to their potential "on paper" as they like to put it.

You do the Oki Chokey and you turn around and that's what it's all about.

No argument from me on that, but choking is a totally different story.

If you are the best club side for 3 years running, win the MP and then get beaten 40 - 0 in the GF, then that qualifies as a choke.

2 years running.

Melb were not the best team last year....they were lucky to even be in the GF.

if Dragons lose this one it will be a massive choke.

So Melbourne were lucky to play Cronulla in the prelim is what you're saying?

I agree. Sharks display was insipid. Storm were there for the taking minus C & J Smith & they wiped the floor with the Sharks.

That one must have stung right?

If the McIntyre system is in place, you need to give absolute home ground advantages in week 1. I am not saying I am a fan of this system!

Teams deserve their home finals. Dragons will play the first week at either Oki or WIN. From what I remember they played their last home final at WIN. No idea why. Maybe OKI wasn't up to scratch. They'll be at OKI this year I'm guessing.

We didn't use OKI all year last year as part of it's ground development. We extended the stands and added an extra 4,000 capacity from memory.

We may still use wollongong for the final, the finals are about winning and we have a good record down there. As far as I know it's still under heavy consideration.

Better book your seats down in Wollongong then, cause that's where it'll be.

I have a feeling it's gonna be 1.Dragons v 8.Cowboys

I am going to disagree completely, I think the atmosphere in a team's home ground is great for football. And going to an opponent's ground is great to watch football

I finds a lot of games at the SFS/Homebush to lack intensity, I have went to grand finals where 1/2 the crowd does not support the grand final teams, and I disliked the games

I agree on 2 points, a) yes home suburban grounds have great atmosphere and b) yes I HATE impartial Grand Final crowd who aren't actual supporters.

But I think the point here is that 45,000 at the SFS wouldn't be impartial. Remember Dragons/Tigers semi 2005 anyone??? Not going to get that at WIN.

As I said before I don blame the actual clubs for doing it. But I do think the league has the responsibility to maximise revenue and dumb scheduling (although only hypothetical at this stage) should be overuled by the NRL.

I'd say if Tigers came 8th they'd be there on the back of pretty good momentum and if they then beat the Dragons that'd be no choke.

In fact, it may just help the Dragons win the premiership if that scenario did occur.

if wests come 8th then they will have won 8 from their last 9. would be full of confidence and have no pressure whatsoever on them. in the 3 games since morris has been moved out of the halves we have won at an average of 37-12

we only lost 21-10 against the dragons without galloway, heighington, gallant and with morris in the halves. despite all that we were probably the better team and if a few last passes went to hand could of pulled off an upset.

its still a long way off happening but i dare say there a number of teams the dragons would prefer to play against apart from the tigers.
