1. Tedesco
2. Koroibete or another fast winger
3. Lawrence
4. Moltzen
5. Ryan
6. Marshall
7. Anasta
8. Galloway
9. Farah
10. Woods
11. Burgess -- the only signing we'd need as Anasta is already a done deal.
12. Blair
13. Fulton

14. Groat
15. Bell
16. BMM
17. Ayshford

Fast outside backs, Benji chiming in whenever he wants to and Anasta and Farah organising around the ruck.

Add to that a pack of forwards that should get us going forward and a bench with some impact. I'd like to see a fast hooker on the bench as well but that team would go well.

The problem would be injuries.

Could easily live with that side exept Moltzen centre.

I won't bother with putting in random signings as they end up like fantasy teams nothing close to what the reality might me. Few simple things

1.Cut the dead wood - Moltzen, Lote, Reddy, Utai, Heightington, Fulton, Bell etc
2.Target 2 marquee signings and some quick backs - A halfback (Anasta is short term), a rep prop, speedy backs
3. Built the side around Tedesco, Marshall an organising and dominant halfback and Robbie.
4. Promote from within the talented youth instead of being stop gaps. People will know better then me the prospects in our ranks. Sironen looks a beauty. I'm hereing good things about a couple of the Balmain sides.

ANyway Roughly

1. Tedesco
2. Fast winger who is good in the air
3. Lawrence
4. Speedy centre with some footwork
5. Ryan
6. Marshall
7. Organising half back
8. Galloway/Rep standard Prop
9. Farah
10. Woods
11. BMM/Dwyer (we can only hope)
12. Blair (give me strength!!)
13. Anasta/Sironen

-----------------------------

Couple of smart, cheaper signings out wide, or promote from within. Look to throw some serious dosh at a halfback and good prop. Anasta won't give us more then a year or two.

I agree with most of your post and even this statement about deadwood. The thing is I believe in a squad of 25 you need some no fuss or 'average' players. Utai and Fulton have played well and I have no problem with them being in the 25 at a decent price. Make other talented youngsters or signings push them out of the starting line up. They can end up back in reggies as injury cover after that point.

In fact, our big issue is a lack of depth. Our Toyota Cup kids may be talented, but our NSW Cup squads don't seem to have much talent. Having the likes of Utai and Fulton running around in the NSW Cup in 2013 would be reassuring if we hit some injuries.

So ditch Moltzen, Lote, Heighno, but I would be keeping Fulton and one of Reddy/Utai.

One last thing, I don't think Bell is deadwood. He is performing well. For some reason fans think all the starting forwards and the bench forwards should be rep quality. I don't believe this is the case. Just look at how the Sharks or Storm are performing. Every team needs people like Norrie or Gibbs (ironic) to fill spots in the forward rotation. Honest hard working props that do their job.

Great examples are Adam Peek and Todd Payten. We all know how Payten performed for us around 04 to 09. He was solid in defence and provided leadership. Maybe he wasn't rep quality, but he did the job. I worked at Parramatta games for a few years and I can tell you Peek is a great example. The guy was on maybe $70,000 a year and played first grade week in and week out. Bloody good value for a third or fourth prop in the rotation.

I strongly believe Bell is like the above mentioned players. He is doing his job and we need some no fuss cheap forwards alongside Galloway and Woods.

You not a fan of Aaron Woods, madunit? I reckon he is much better value than Brett White, who you have in your team.

Woods is fantastic. I agree with glockers - Bell is a no nonsense player that every team needs. Reliable, solid, you know what you will get every week. He's been good for us and would not be on much $$$.

I like it. And very realistic.

We desperately need some speed in the backline.

We desperately need some speed in the backline.

We need someone to replace Ellis and speed in our backs.

I don't think our team is too far off despite having a terrible start to the year. A reliable fullback with pace would be huge - hopefully Tedesco can fill that role. Another one or two speedy outside backs though are required.

For the fun of the exercise I'd go;

1. Locke
2. Mead
3. Lawrence
4. Lyons
5. Ryan
6. Anasta
7. Marshall
8. Galloway
9. Farah
10. Weyman
11. Tony Williams
12. Blair
13. Fulton

14. Bell
15. BMM
16. Wood
17. Ayshford

I can live with Tedesco at 1 but it seems like everyone that comes back from these knee problems takes much longer to recover than expected, therefore I'd like to see Lock at fullback.

Mead from the Titans is a better player than the team he is in and he is fast. Lyons, well I can't stand Manly but I'd have him in the centres and goal kicker.

Weyman, well I don't like him too much but he does dent the line. Williams is damaging and can destroy a defence...still, he is from Manly too.

We own the rest and while I'd have Mardhall at 7 and Anasta at 6, they are one and the same so it is just the number they are wearing. Anasta to get the ball when kicks are required.

Just my thoughts....

Sorry, with the above post I just noticed the year stipulated was 2014. Didn't read it properly. That being the case I'd drop Locke off and run with Tedesco (assuming he does comes good in 2013). Would also need to consider the age of Lyons too.

The big questions as I see it though is when have us fans EVER picked a team? When has the club ever really listened to us fans? Who are the coaches up for grabs in 2014 is a more pertinent choice!!!!

coach. Steve Folkes.

I see it as a bit of starch and retaining flair.
2014 Premiers with this squad, just need to convince the board to get them all

Uate twice? Fat Frankie Pritchard in the front row? Matai and his annual 7 game absence due to injury & suspension? And what do you think the salary cap will be?

Sorry Tiger Hawk, Vatuvei in 5. Pritchard would work in the front row nicely & Matai has that element of mongrel we need. The cap? Well the new tv deal should be in by then.

For 2014

1. James Tedesco (The kid has great talent hopefully he will return to his best after his knee injury)
2. Beau Ryan ( does a good enough job and has plently of passion for the club)
3. Chris Lawrence (is an elite NRL centre at his best)

4. Curtis Sironen (I think he will start in the centres, as Lauire Daley and Fitler did, will most likely end up a lock)

5. Marika Koberiete ( has pace and plently of it, knows his way to the try line, great prospect in my book)

6. Benji Marshall ( no comment needed, is an elite five eigth)

7. Braith Anasta ( is still on contract in 2014, will provide direction and has a much better kicking game than most of our team)

8. Keith Galloway (hopeully will be injury free)
9. Robbie Farah (c) ( loves the Tigers and in my many years of watching league would be in the top 6 dummy halves i have seen when at his best)
10. Aaron Woods (by 2014 will be one of the best props in the NRL if he keeps developing at the same rate)
11. Tony Williams (sort of player we need, damaging runner)
12. Adam Blair (is on contract and is a very good player, hopefully he will be playing at his best)
13. Liam fulton ( every pack needs this type of player in defence, may need some one younger soon after 2014)

14. Blake Ashyford (has potential as utilty player, could be starting lock)
15 Matt Groat (hoepfully in 2014 he would have developed more)
16 BMM ( will be a top player by 2014, I hope)
17 Another prop ( don't know who but hopefully an experienced player)
18 Mitchell Mosses (is a gun will be tearing up the 20's by 2014, next in line for either the #6 or #7)
19. Andrew Vella (promising young forward)
20. Kurtis Rowe (good young full back)
21 Kyle Lovett/Nathan Brown ( two promising young forwrds, hopefgully both make it)
22. New hooker (we need a good young #9)

The players coming through are good. The club has set it self up right as far as junior development goes. We need to buy the right players to add what we need.

I think the 2014 coach will be some one like Steve Folkes or Daniel Anderson.

Looking somewhat realistically, I'd bring in McQueen for one wing spot, Robson for half, James Tamou and Dan Hunt back/front row....all non or at most minor rep players....but all have good go forward, Robson good kicking game combined with Anasta & Farah for the short attacking kicks.

1 Tedesco
2 McQueen
3 Reddy
4 Lawrence
5 Ryan
6 Marshall
7 Robson
13 Anasta
12 Blair
11 Tamou
10 Woods
9 Farah
8 Galloway
14 Fulton
15 Bell
16 BMM
17 Groat

I like this because there is really only one signing and that player could help us out - Tony Williams.

The only thing is I reckon BMM could soon be a better proposition than everyone in that backrow.

My only problem is that we are talking two seasons away. we'd need to be buying a few more established players as a heap in the team can't cut it now and won't even be around in 2014.
