A couple of days ago in the Courier mail this was reported...."Coach Kelly Egan yesterday confirmed the Seagulls would almost definately be linked with an NRL club" and also "I can tell you it is a club totally out of left field:it's not Manly".

Now today in the Courier Mail is this.... "Manly has confirmed it's affiliation with Wynnum with John Hopoate and Solomon Haumono to be special guests at their trophy presentation night on Saturday week".
I am confused. :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Why would you be confused ???

Egan's playing the 'professional, club-mans' game, and the Courier Mail is full of sh!t.

Which part don't you understand ?

You have that right, after all it was the same paper who said that Prince wouldn't join the Wests Tigers wasn't it

I've been following this with great interest and what you say is right but last week they also said it is beleived the Wests Tigers are the team from left field,as a Tigers supporter i e-mailed the club and got a confirmation that they are in talks with Wynnum and it would be a win win situation for both clubs.

So whats going on :?

My money would be on the courier mail screwing up as they know very little outside the Broncos.

If anyone knows for sure let us know ;-)

Well, this is straight from the horses mouth or in this instance, straight from Zorba (Peter Peters) on mightyeagles.com !

"While the Bulletin Board is a great source for news and an opportunity for people to support the club they follow it is fast becoming a cesspool of uninformed crap.I have watched with interest some of the posts on a wide variety of topics in recent weeks and most of it has been way off the truth.
For a start Wynnum Manly HAVE officially aligned themselves with the Manly Sea Eagles.
A telephone hookup today confirmed the association.Solomon Haumono and John Hopoate will represent Manly at Wynnum's annual presentation night at Wynnum Leagues Club on Saturday,September 27.There are effort being made for the Sea Eagles to play its last trial before the start of the 2004 premiership at Wynnum.
And on the subject of recruitment - we have 16 new players coming next season. All have been handpicked by the new coach and the recruitment team along with myself as football manager. We have agreed on every player and we have agreed on every player we are releasing. That may upset some people but
I believe the coach has every right to make choices.....after all he has been first division coach and assistant coach in recent seasons.Dessie doesn't need plaudits - he is a tough man and also a fair and knowledable one on all aspects of the game.He has his reasons and doesn't need to justify them.He should be judged on what he does next season
- give the man a fair go. - ADMIN"

Well he really is a f*ckwit then ..... Wynnum-Manly ceased to exist over a decade ago, as they are now the Wynnum Seagulls. Wynnum-Manly is the junior club based over at Kitchener Park ....

He should get his facts right !

Secondly, Wynnum stand to really gain something here, don't they ? I can really see Manly flying their offcuts up to Brisbane to play Qld Cup instead of NSW 1st division ..... not ! This is just more of the "one way ticket to Sydney" bullsh!t the NRL wants to see .........

Wynnum has definitly been aligned with Manly. I hope no Manly players come to Kougari otherwise we"ll end up as the Wynnum Manly Seagulls.

What is the actual history with Wynnum dropping the 'Manly' in 1990. That only dawned on me last year.

Posted in the mightyeagles.com forum by Peter Peters....

"The deal with Wynnum Manly is a two way street. They will be our feeder club in Queensland and we will provide coaching for their staff and an NRL pathway for their players. In 2004 we will have dual registration with Manly in the same way the
Storm have with Norths in Brisbane. This
allows free transfer of players between the clubs. We will place talented young players with Wynnum while they gain experience to come to Sydney. They have an elite Rugby League school at Wynnum High which we can tap into.Their coach Kelly Egan, chief executive Dave Warwick and Leagues Club chairman Arthur Lovell are outstanding people and a joy to work with.We see the Seagulls-Sea Eagles as a natural mix.Manly to Manly thing. We are arranging a trial against another NRL side at Wynnum early next year to cement our new official arrangement. It has been tried before but not with the determination of both parties that exists now.Wynnum coaches will join us for a two week period in the off season.Other Sydney clubs tried to get under our guard
with Wynnum butthe club remained firm in its allegiance which is highly commendable.I know you love your Sea eagles from afar Cliffy - make Wynnum your side in brisbane. ADMIN"

Are Newcastle and the Sharks the only two clubs not linked to a club up here?

And West Tigers, but they seem to have something with Runaway Bay but Im not sure if that counts because they arent QLD Cup
