If the Eels can get up against the Raiders they will be in a great position to go forth this year.

I'm the first to admit that after the Bulldogs game I thought our chances of beating the Broncs followed by the Knights were between Buckleys and none.

But I stand here gleefully misproven.

Parra had to overcome some great challenges over the last two weeks and, despite some troubles in their game, they showed a lot of ticker and won.

I am a bit concerned that the problems in the Eels game are evident to everybody. Particularly their goal line defence. And I'm sure that Canberra will look to exploit this. (They'd be an ordinary team if they didn't) Hopefully a lot of training and coaching on Parra's behalf will address this.

I rate Parra a very good chance this weekend, but I respect Canberra a lot.

Hopefully by this time next week the board will be full of posts as to how the Eels are shaping up to be a title threat.

The Raiders game will be tough but I'm starting to get a feeling that like Brisbane and Newcaslte. Canberra might be taking this game a little too lightly.

But with Brisbane and Newcastle, a Raiders team playing well will be a huge call for the team we have seen running around the park the last three weeks.

What we really need to do is stop handing over the ball the set after we score a try. That gives them a good chance to reply and knock off momentum with a full set of six within our own 40m.

Shut down handling errors. If Armit can play tight, that will go a long way towards helping the team, because Cannings dropped a few pills over the last fortnight.

Same with Burty. He needs to make sure he holds the pill too, not because he has been dropping too many but because you just know he is going to split them open a few times and if he can hold the ball like he failed to do against Buderus he is gonna get us some major relief by blitzing the Eels up the field real fast. You don't want him splitting them open only to lose it all by handing the ball over.

Follow Webster. Jimmy vs Drew is gonna be fantastic, and whoever gets better followers might give their team the edge.

And various other thigns as well, but I've typed enough already :p

As I've said in a previous post!

This is a massive test for us, it would be sensational if we get up, however I'd like to think that win, lose or draw we would of given them someone else to think about other than the roosters and panthers.

This weekend will should have a very good indication of exactly where the Club is at for 2004.

This is pretty much, with the exception of Toots Croker, the strongest possible team that Canberra can put on the field. They are always strong at home and we would need to improve immensely, even on last weeks top effort, to get over the line. Even if we dont win, but we go close and the effort is there, I am sure we could take alot out of it. However, a win in Canberra this weekend would give us the thrust we need to go on for the rest of the season.

As well as this, I am interested to see how the players go in Premier League. The Raiders are the defending Premiers in PL and always have an exceptionally strong side in that competition each year. I am interested to see how some of our potential first graders go against a high calibre opposition. We should know exactly how good how depth really is

It is certainly a huge test for the Club this weekend.

could make an intresting foot race if Grothe gets in the clear like he did v Broncos (or Grothe chasing Robertson down should the reverse happen)

The best clash... Smith v Elliott. Master v Pupil.
Good coach Matt Elliott. Thats why they snared Parra's Drew Hindmarsh Mogg in the past two years. (as well as Schifcofske/Mick Hodgson)
This will be the first time we've seen Hindmarsh V Hindmarsh. Be worth the price of admission alone.

Yeah, you're right, the run gets a little easier from there.

Dunno if there are any easy games, but yeah on paper they're easier.

We need a good start to the year for once. A finish would help too lol

For the first time this year, I've got a good feeling about this game. My concern is the coming month, particularly if we nail Canberra. When you play teams like the Bunnies, they lift and you run the risk of taking the game lightly (eg: Brisbane/Newcastle). The result isn't a good one ... yet no-one seems to learn the lesson that in these games sustained intensity is vital regardless of the opposition.

Imagine 7 out of 8, after a coulpe of easy games after this one.

Even if we loose this one, 6 out of 8 aint too bad.

bloody oath, that would be awesome, plus it would give the team so much confidence and momentum leading into the second half of the season. Also success would make it easier to convince players to sign with the club leading into the silly season.
