I don't think Bennett will leave.

Henry is signing/signed on with the Titans as assistant with a get out clause should he snag a 1st grade gig

Bennett leaving would be a kick in the nuts. Getting Henry as his replacement would be chopping those nuts off and stamping on them.

Sick of these constant whispers already.

Mascord reckons it is Paul Green (currently with the Roosters) who the Cowboys are after - not Bennett...

So it's all been a media beat up to try and derail us leading up to Saturday night?

Hope they're all very proud of themselves

Bennett could have put the rumours to rest when he was first asked about it last Wednesday. The media played along because they were encouraged to.

He not going nowhere.

Newcastle coach Wayne Bennett has confirmed he will stay at the club, according to News Corp Australia reports.

Just 24 hours after his team and club legend Danny Buderus were knocked out of the NRL finals by the Sydney Roosters, Bennett told The Daily Telegraph on Sunday night he was staying put.

Two years into a four-year contract, the 63-year-old, seven-time premiership-winning coach said he had never stated he was going anywhere.

"We've finished the season good but the job's not done yet. I'm staying.

"You people in the media started all this speculation. I haven't said anything because I don't comment on rumours in newspapers," Bennett was quoted as saying.

Last week, the coach said he could not give an "iron-clad guarantee of anything in this game".

"What I can say is right now I am the coach here. If that changes at any stage, then I will let you know."

Even at his media conference after Saturday night's loss to the Roosters, Bennett would not discuss his immediate future.

His deal with Newcastle is worth up to $5 million overall with bonuses.

After the disappointment of missing a grand final berth on Saturday night, Bennett's commitment to the Knights is a massive boost for the club.

He is still confident he can deliver a premiership in Newcastle and become the first coach to win titles at three different clubs.

"We're building towards where we want to be," he said.

I have no doubt now that Bennett is very close to winning the title. We just need two big skillful front rowers. Packer is an excellent start. Great young forward. Very aggressive. Benny must be using the cap squeeze at other clubs and his legend to get them to sign on for less.

Wayne plays pupper master to the media with such ease, I love it. They hang off his every word.

I've been impressed with the team that Bennett is forming. Our backline would have to be in the top 2 or 3 in the comp. I like how Bennett is now using Houston as a battering ram front rower, rather then an uncreative second rower. I'm also very impressed with the development of Rochow and Mckinnon.

I've said it before, but the major area that lets us down, is not having backrowers that trouble the opposition with offloads or good footwork. Over the last couple of years, when we've come up against teams with quaility backrowers, we struggle. SBW on the weekend killed us with his footwork and offloads. Glen Stewert has torn us apart previously, as has Corey Parker. Having a Ben Kennedy type player that can make good meters, but also create second phase play is a major asset. In the Melbourne game, Jeremy Smith offered this, but unfortunately it wasn't there against the Roosters. If we can get one or two creative second rowers before next season, then I'll be very happy. Or at the very least, have Scott, Smith etc improve their second phase play between now and next season.

Who really knows, do recall Bond being flat broke and yet lives in the height of luxury.

Surely he would have salted some away and he might actually make a comeback.

1000% sure of that. Tinks wont be looking at the price of the menu when he goes out, he's down to his last 18 million as far as any creditors are concerned. He'd have a stash hidden somewhere. I doubt very much that he flew in on a budget airline in cattle class to watch the game

Hasn't he got millions tied up in his wife's name and she gives him a weekly allowance?
