Done little since he's arrived.

lol.

I have some concerns but some people seems to have very short term memories.

He's a rookie coach and in 3 years he's made the top four twice, had a player win the Dally M medal, attracted talent to our club, Nicho, AFB, Finucane and managed to retain sought after players like Ronnie and Trindall. The club also made a prelim final.

At the time he took the helm we couldn't beat a top 8 team and at the moment we regularly do though we struggle to beat the top 2 (as does every other team in the comp).

Aside from Bellamy and Cleary what other coaches have a better record them him over the past 3 years?

I think he is a very good coach, I just question whether he has enough to take us to premiership glory. Question is the key word there, I'm not sure but I certainly wouldn't rule it out.

I think his problem is he has never played fantasy football. His whole team is full of good players. No top tier players, not a single origin player, when was the last team to win a GF without an origin player, I reckon there has never been one.

He is probably lucky he has achieved what he has, our window is actually shutting imo and Nicho should jump out before it does.

Can’t argue with your sentiments at all. Currently emotion gets in the way of facts.
He’s got work to do for sure, but beats going to Brookvale for a semi final under Morris - dead set favourites, can’t lose… Only to violet crumble, it was obvious in the first two minutes. SJ and co just rolled over and accepted the position.
I stood there in disbelief and thought the coach has to go. The beer was good though - 4 Pines.
Is Fitz on the same trajectory? Time will tell I guess

‘whether he has enough to take us to premiership glory’ . But do we have enough to get there ? Front desk, management, CEO ,facilities, player health, mental physical health and welfare. The team needs somthing extra. The playing squad, we have players coming through which we will need. But our game has serious injuries which keep players out for months. A fit Sifa would have made a difference on Thursday night . We have the magnificent Hiroti but he was out of gas’s in the last 10 min. Got his usual try tho!

Is a player a rookie after 4 years fulltime in the job? I don't buy this Fitz is a rookie shit.

Ok, if you replaced rookie with relatively new make a difference?

Of all the coaches in the NRL, the ones with less coaching experience are:

1. Cameron Ciraldo
2. Andrew Webster
3. Benji Marshall
4. Kristian Woolf (though he has slightly more if you count his ESL experience)
5. Jason Ryles

So he's in the bottom third.

No. He had 10 years as an assistant with the Roosters and is in his 4th year of NRL. He was assistant at the Roosters through some of their more recent successful years. He has been an assistant at SOO level. He has coached NSW country. He's not a rookie and he's not relatively new.

Trent Robinson won the comp in his first year. MIchael Hagan won the comp in his first year after only a 3 year apprenticeship. Sticky won in year 1.

What he is, is stubborn and blindly loyal. He brings back bad memories of the "incumbency years" at the Sharks when it was harder to get out of the team than into it no matter what the sacred cows dished up.

It could just be he's actually not as good as he is mooted to be. Sure, he hasn't walked into a club with as strong a playing roster but he's the one who wanted to pay a $1 mill+ to a bum and make other dubious retention/release choices.

the bum he paid a million a season for had just won the dally m to be fair and was the absolute talk of the league at the time. If we didn’t upgrade him, someone else would have bought him, then we would have been losing it that we didn’t upgrade him. It feels like the eyes up, unpredictable footy that bum brought to the team has almost been coached out of him.

I’d like to see a stat on how many games the Hynes/trindall combo has won together and who those games were against, as opposed to the Hynes/moylan, Hynes/atkinson, when the bums role was extremely clear.

OK, I'll bite but the sampling size is too small on most combinations to be meaningful, in research terms at any rate.

Apologies for the size, it's a biggie. The summary tells a story.

Can we just have Trindall as the organising half 100% of the time and Hynes as the running, scheming half 100% of the time?

thanks for taking the time to do it.. 14 wins and 14 losses.. Hynes stats as the out and out dominant half much clearer. Something has to give, because the way the coach has it at the moment clearly isn’t working.

Are we sure we know when he is the dominant half? Are we sure Tricky knows when he is? Is Fitz sure.

The way it always gets explains, my perception perhaps, is that whoever falls into the dominant role is the one for the game while the other backseats himself. Well that's just dumb IMO. That's how you get games like the Raiders game where neither stepped up so the team's rudder falls off. I don't think Tricky is a 5/8s quoit as another thing I think is when he gets the bridesmaid's job he goes quiet and starts making errors.

It's like Fitz doesn't want to be responsible for upsetting one or the other so they get to have turns. Like in the U/8s. I wonder if they have to share the McDonalds awards?

I probably didn’t explain it as well as you just have, but this is exactly what I am getting at. They look confused. And this is solely on the coach.

It's funny you say that foxy. I've oft wondered if Hynes wears the 7 because he wants to. Again, just like in the U/8s.

Opes and TTG = old times rust
Fitz and Kleenex - modern day rust

I wonder if he still wears it because of sort of what BBB has touched on about him being the face of all of our publicity and all the merchandise with 7 on it etc, kids buying jerseys with 7 on it. Seriously, it would not surprise me.
