I have to say I’ve been disappointed by some of our play this season but we are still in this Premiership race this year and I haven’t given up on Fitzy yet.

But the next two weeks will tell me more about this team.

Manly away which we have a dreadful record and Tom T back with them this time around and then the Storm at home.

We need at least one win out of those two games to have me truly believe we maybe good enough. Two wins would tell me we are starting to get our shyte together and are good enough to give this thing a shake.

For me Fitzy has to find our best forward combinations and best bench usage. I think at times it’s been AFB and nothing much else. If we had more forward dominance from our props in particular against the Tigers and Raiders we’d be sitting 1 win off top spot. Two games we had in the bag. Or so we thought.

Yep 2 wins would having us heading towards the top 4…. 1 and 1 would have us still in the 8. I do like what JC brings to the team and he’ll only get better if he manages to have a better run with injuries this year.

I reckon our coaching staff are pretty good, Hannay pricey and holdsworth deserve some flowers I know it’s a win in week 10 but I don’t see other teams with a setup like this you see the assistants do shit all the time at half time other teams it’s like the coach is the only thing, smart also noakes is the new Palmer

We have changed the way we play every year, slightly I know but we have.

Fluffy so please shoot me

Wasn’t sure where else to post..

But maybe, just maybe there is a method behind some of our coasting performances. What I saw on Saturday night was a totally different mentality and physicality I haven’t seen from this team all season, and only glimpses of it here and there over the past few years.

all we have heard about is the bulldogs and how physical they are in defence etc, but they have to keep that up for another 5 odd months. It’s a long season and maybe we are saving ourselves in a way for the bigger games and tougher opponents. A lot in here have questioned McInnes for one. He played real captains knock on the weekend. His line speed the entire game was incredible and he put some shots on some much bigger opponents. That type of physicality can’t be kept up for 26 rounds plus finals.

the whole team was on and up for it. There was an air of arrogance about them as if they weren’t prepared to lose and they were going to do whatever they had to, to win. Ronny was huge. I know a lot want to punch him in the head, but look at ennis. As long as he backs it up, he needs to keep it up.

we all get the shits at times with fumbling our way to a 26-18 win against parra or whatever it may be, but at the end of the day 2 points is all that matters and maybe through experience we are going about our business, flying under the radar conserving ourselves for the games that matters most.

Good post.
There's a lot to be said about structuring the team around the draw. Us and Canberra have had a lot of travel without byes. Our first is the weekend after this one, then its Wahs, Dargs, Broncs and Storm before another bye.
Hopefully the trend you're talking of keeps rising.

Having the byes later in the season should help us manage the roster to hopefully keep the players fresh enough for the run into the semis. If we can get past the Roosters this weekend… going into our first bye at 8 and 4 is a sensational result given our travel schedule and the fact we only have 22 out of our squad available for selection atm. The fact that we don’t have a single player selected for origin is a massive bonus too.

Building.
Each game a step forward as the season progresses. The last three weeks have been impressive- not for the win, but just getting out of a situation that could have gone the other way.
The news last night was banging on about Ronnie being the villian…. What a laugh. Something must be getting under the skin of the media. There was plenty of villains the other night and mainly in the other jersey and the refs allowing it.
Hang tough

There is 1 performance indicator and 2 x games that will determine our Premiership credentials.

1. I need to see another 1 or 2 Sharks in the Top 20 for post contact metres - we can't have AFB at No.1 and our next best Jesse Ramien at No.28 and Ronaldo at No.36.
2. I need to see us beat the Storm in Melbourne.
3. I need to see us beat Canterbury away (Last round) - pending them playing their full squad.

If we achieve 3/3 I am prepared to say we are a genuine Premiership contender.
