a drum machine is comparible to a drum kit, which can't think for itself either. it is people who bring both forms to life and regarding variations, imperfections and what not, surely all of these can be implemented into sounds created by a drum machine. technology is pretty advanced, y'know

No it's not. A drum machine will only play what you want it to play. There's no room for improvisation or artistic talent.
