Gun sides rest a few in the last week or 2. Enforcing players to rest is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
It's about the quality of players life near end of playing career. Less burn out. Could extend their career actually
Less injuries aswell. And get juniors back up players more Game time. Gain experience
A lot of coaches keep their star players in the game. On the Field. Even when leading by 20 point's. When the match is practically over 65 minutes. Take them off. Put them in ice. Cotton wool

No sorry wrong school
Our winning team. School located in St George area
I assume you are talking about James Cook. They had good league teams in the 80s as I think the Dragon's use to put alot of juniors through there, much like the sports high schools these days. I remember Dennis Kinchella still at school playing first grade.

Only the gun sides and only in the last week or 2? Not sure what games you’ve been watching over the Origin period / middle of the season but players are rested all the time. The majority of star players wouldn’t play all regular season games as is.

It would be like 2 games less than the maximum as opposed to the idea of shortening the season, really not that dramatic.

Yeah ive had that thought before mostly related to the NFL and it's shift toward more games
They're at a 17 week regular season now and it's a matter of time before it's 18.

Problem is these leagues and the players dont really want to cut down the schedules because that's taking money out of everyones pockets but playing more games really isn't good for the players long term health. A solution like this could work

In the NFL, they increased the regular season by 1 game, but managed it by cutting the number of weeks of pre-season games. It used to be 17 week regular seasons, each team playing 16 games, and a 4 week 4 game preseason.

Now its a 18 week 17 game regular season and a 3 week 3 game preseason.

Also the NBA with its in season tournament is able to work it due to the number of times teams in the same conference play each other. They play teams in their own division 4 times during the regular season, and 3 times against teams in their own conference but only twice from the other conferences. Hence they don't have many logistical problems. Trying to run a comp like it in the NRL with teams only playing some teams once in a season makes it impractical.

Gotta feel for Giddey, that girl who lied about her age and her family are lawyering up for a gold dig. Dang. The lads have to be careful.

The pre season game they cut out was a game that almost no starters played in anyways.
And the trend for a lot of starting players not playing a ton of pre season was already well and truly on its way before any discussion about expanding the regular season occured.
Additionally, this addditonal 17th game is a stepping stone to an inevitable 18th game... so it's not really in question that the NFL is moving toward more games and thus, greater physical toll on the players
