In Season Tournament

There is not enough games on the schedule for the NRL to have a low interest part of the year
the reason the NBA in season tournament works is because they play 82 f**king games! Its too many and half of them dont really matter, which is why superstars sit out game regularly for rest.

NRL like the NFL is a collision sport, and as such there is only so many games you can play, so the schedules are always going to be short and when you have smaller schedules every game matters.

If anything, I reckon the NRL season is a bit too long. 20 rounds should be enough.

I will leave someone else to work out the scheduling. Maybe @T-Boon.

Yeah i agree
I think eventually the NRL will have to americanise its structure a bit to get the scheduling right. But that's a discussion for another time. But a game like RL, as players continue to get bigger, faster and stronger... it's a hell of a physical toll to inflict on the players.

What team year? I’ve been watching a lot of the finals on YouTube over the last 6 months.
Our winning team was coached by Brian Smith
Our PE master
We had some future NRL player's
In the team
It was basically a rep team
From the local juniors comp
That went to the same school
It was like magic
The right player's. Coaching. Location
Time. Management.
We became a team. A force
We never lost
We won league and union championship's
We won Buckley shield
Buchan shield
And Commonwealth cup
😁
Then we went on a tour. England. Playing games
I remember we won Games in Australia
120 nil. 115 nil. 90 10 . And so on
Our winger's would score 5 or 6 tries each
Post some videos please of the Commonwealth cups

What about NRLX? 8 a side on half a field. Tries are worth 11 points, you can only convert them if you wear gumboots - goals are then worth 7 points. High octane.

Bring your own circus performers.
Will only work if teams have exciting names like Bolts and Rampage and confusing logos.

My preference is a June/July hiatus during the origin period (4 weeks or so) and have a 9 aside comp. Not "9s" as such but an 80 minute version of RL with 9 aside and a smaller gap between play the ball and D line.

Could always just keep the season the same length or similar and introduce a limit on how many regular season games each player can play in a year. Creates a bit more strategy to resting players over the course of the season and squad rotation.

Yeah let's try increase crowds by having stars sit in the stands for no reason.

The real solution is 20 sides and you play each other once. You then play more rep football

Yeah ive had that thought before mostly related to the NFL and it's shift toward more games
They're at a 17 week regular season now and it's a matter of time before it's 18.

Problem is these leagues and the players dont really want to cut down the schedules because that's taking money out of everyones pockets but playing more games really isn't good for the players long term health. A solution like this could work
