In what direction is the universe expanding?

Our knowledge of the universe is based on what we can see. So if it is ONLY the 3rd dimension, why doesn't the 3rd D just dissipate and float away ? Perhaps other dimensions we don't know about, hold the 3rd D in place, to stop it from floating apart.
Also most galaxies are spiral galaxies. Circular from right to left. Similar to Saturn's hexagonal storm i believe.

well the 4th dimension is time... and gravity stops stuff from floating away right?

So why can't i view those pics ? There was a new one nasa was watching during the week
it too was a spiral galaxy
sometimes i wonder if all those galaxies sit on top of one another
l forgot the name, it was something like ngc-31
lets say for example do ngc-31, andromeda, milkway sit on top of one another
something is keeping them in place
anyway can you see my pic ?
