Taipan ! Not too many matches match that of SOO in Australia . But in NZ and South Africa there aren't many that can match the Bledisloe Cup and SA/All Blacks games .
Will Carling Also thought the Bledisloe Cup was the best Rugby game in the world by far .QUOTE]

If you like a slow game with not much skill then the Rugby Union internationals would be perfect. They call union the fast flowing game. Someone gets injured and they stop the whole game and everyone rests. Someone fakes an injury and everybody rests. Union stops (and I have timed it in the past) 4 to 5 times longer than league. Very slow and boring game.
No wonder when these union boys come across to our Rugby League and start training they can never keep up in fitness. Its funny, they can never pass properly or have very good skills at all.

Please don't ever say union is a better game because it is so far from it.
Maybe overall better marketed and managed yes but that is it.

Rugby has its ups and downs Taipan and Im sure Scotland Rugby is up there with Frencg rugby league .
The difference being that Scotland RU has probably had as much assistance from the establishment as French RL has had impediment from it.

Who cares if Rugby didn't have world cup before league ? Rugby league had since 1950 to sort its world cup and still struggling to make a profit out of it or a tournament out of it .

Read Woods99 questioning whether any of the RLWC matches would match the SOO.The answer is an obvious one no!
Carling stated it was the best match of rugby he had seen in both codes, repeat both codes. As a closely contested rugby match of a high standard it is so far ahead.
The difference is French rugby league is not going backwards ,Scotland union is.
PW you seem to care about my comment that rugby league started the world cup idea, you responded to it . Who says they are still struggling to make a profit out of the next tournament or in fact a tournament-you know the sponsorship arrangements ? the state govts support? the venues ? ticketing prices ? You work for Colin Love on the ARL ?
