I can understand why people are excited but he was busted in mind and body when he left Souths will 18 months out have done him any good at his age?

Is International Travel going to be available for him to get to England ? Highly unlikely any this rate.

International travel has never really stopped. There’s a fair chance the borders will be open in January, depends how soon they want him in pre season.

They’re putting together a powerful squad that’s for sure.
Backs will look something like this.
1. Ratchford/Ashton
2. Charnley
3. Inglis
4. King
5. Lineham
6. Austin
7. Widdop

Is Austin not the foreign marquee? If so he may have to leave.

Widdop and Austin are the two permitted marquee players. Inglis isn’t on top dollar if the Warrington CEO is to be believed.

interesting I heard he was getting $800k but that sounds like a rumour.
I’m not saying this is happening but if Austin got a british passport (played for GB and England) could he take up the domestic spot? It was rumoured Widdop just wanted out of dragons and would be interested in a move back to the NRL.

It wouldn’t matter if Austin had a U.K. passport or not. People are questioning the SC rather than the overseas quota spots. If Widdop returned to the NRL then that would allow Warrington to pay Inglis whatever they want with only the first £150,000 counting towards the SC.

Yeah but I’m questioning it. Are the marquee players limited to overseas/domestic or is it just two marquee spots.

Could be 18 months to properly heal is what he needed.
With week to week NRL the pressure is always there to get back on the field as soon as you can. A year off might have done wonders for his knee and shoulder problems.
Of course the flipside is his fitness - he always played pretty heavy. England might be a step down from NRL but if he rocks up at 120kg it won't be long until he's seeing injuries add up.
