The NSW court has this afternoon granted an injunction preventing SBW playing Rugby Union in France.

Bulldog lawyers have said they want SBW back playing league for the Bulldogs as soon as possible and will welcome him back 'with glee'.

No reaction so far from SBW or Toulon..

I guess whether the French club accept and enforce this is the matter in question... and if they don't... whats the next step in regards to legal action?

Oh what joy!

From what i understand international agreements mean the EU courts recognise rulings in our high court as we do there's. Therefore SBW and the club could be held in contempt of court if he goes ahead and plays.

meaning? (for us dummys)
it means "please sonny & frog union! please don't be naughty!"

sony one & only will say "sup bro! like whatever! me numba wun!"

frog union says "australian what?"

end result - dickhead plays union. we've successfully relocated another idiot, & union has to deal with a nutjob.

Re whether this ruling has any jurisdiction in France...

Apparently this issue did come up during the hearing and the Bulldog/NRL lawyers argued that SBW has assests here and if the injunction is ignored he could be found in contempt of court and then his assets could potentially be seized..

So there would be no penatly against Toulon - or Sonny Bill while in France. But could potentially be problems when/if he comes back to Australia...

Supreme Court is not the High Court.

Bulldogs' SBW injunction granted
By staff writers
August 08, 2008 THE New South Wales supreme court has granted the NRL and the Bulldogs an injunction, to prevent runaway star, Sonny Bill Williams, from taking the field for French rugby club Toulon tonight.
Williams seems to have snubbed the court, by failing to send any representatives to the injunction hearing.
The court was satisfied Williams and Toulon received the legal papers requesting him to appear in court, after receiving confirmation that they were served to the player after they were thrown over a fence at the Toulon training ground and then handed to Williams.
If Williams plays for Toulon tonight, he will be in contempt of court. The court injunction comes after Williams broke his silence about his split from the Dogs last night, and his former coach Steve Folkes hit back at the player's claims this morning.
More to follow.
