INJURY UPDATE: WILLIE TONGA AND RENI MAITUA
The results of MRI scans on Bulldogs players Willie Tonga and Reni Maitua have confirmed the following:

Willie Tonga experienced a total rupture of the medial ligament in his right knee during the match against the Broncos last Sunday. Tonga will be seeing a surgeon tomorrow with the expected recommendation being that he have surgery on the injured knee. It is expected that Tonga will be out for a minimum of eight weeks.

Reni Maitua experienced a syndesmosis injury during the City-Country Origin match on Friday night. This is a tear of the ligament holding the tibia and fibula bones together, near the ankle. Maitua’s injury is further complicated by a micro-trabeculae fracture (bone bruise) of the tibia. Maitua is expected to be out for a minimum of 12 weeks.

Not good news. Oh well, other teams have had their turn at big injury tolls. Now it's obviously our turn.

If we can be in the top eight at the back end of the season, we might be in good shape. A lot of players are coming back around the same time, and given a few weeks to get back into the groove, they might be fresh and primed for finals football.

the one good thing about all these injuries is that it's giving players like myles, armit and c tonga alot more experience in the top grade so when we do finally get our top players back we should have alot more depth like last year.
