The Eels are confident of having captain Nathan Hindmarsh take his place in tonight's line-up after the second-rower underwent treatment today for a sore hip.
Meanwhile, forward Fuifui Moimoi is also expected to take his place in the side.
Esi Tonga (hamstring – 2-3 weeks)
Esi's recovery from a grade 2 hamstring tear is progressing well. He ran at training this week and is expected back on the field in the next two to three weeks.
Tonga suffered the injury in the final play of the Eels' Round 2 loss to the New Zealand Warriors.
In other injury news:
Jarryd Hayne (knee – indefinite)
Jarryd trained with the side this week but as of 2pm on game-day for tonight's Battle of the West, a decision has not been made on whether he will line up to take on Penrith.
Jacob Loko (knee – season)
Jacbo's status is unchanged - he is recovering well from off-season knee surgery to his ACL.
Rory Brien (shoulder – indefinite)
Rory's status is unchanged - he is recovering well from off-season shoulder surgery, and is expected to make it back onto the field later in the season.
Ben Smith (pectoral – indefinite)
Ben's status is unchanged - he is recovering well from surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle. This week he was able to rid himself of his sling and will progress into the next phase of his recovery.
NYC
Toby Key (foot - indefinite)
Toby has a stress fracture in his foot and is currently in a cast - it's unclear when he'll be back on the field.
Boyd Russell (back - indefinite)
Boyd has a back complaint and it's unclear when he'll be back on the field.

we've missed his defence, a point which is blatantly obvious looking at our for and against

I've never not rated Benny. I think with hindy pulling off his boots we need smith in the team next year to pick up the slack.

11. Smith
12. Fui
13. Maitua

Would be a great mix of defensive, attacking and creative backrow
