I don't think I was indicating that I wasn't the first to hear the news, only that I hadn't yet heard/seen the news (and before I posted I checked Eels and NRL sites for injury updates), hence why I asked a standard non-gotcha question.

I blame matto for starting this year's bad luck by sending the NRL a message last October.

I was told he was going to be back in 5 weeks which would mean the Bye round, so this makes sense.

Yes. I already mentioned this that Gutherson slipped up and said after the Bye we get Reg back. I worked out it would of been 7 weeks.
