I thought he went OK. He has only taken over a couple of days ago and thus far has done the job.
My only issue with him is Sullivan needs to be in the halves. How he does that happen i am not sure.
Possibly Sullivan Amone as the halves, Hunt to hooker and Liddle to 14.
When Liddle comes on put Hunt to lock, similiar to how the sharks use McGuniness.
Hunt also played lock in last year SOO when Grant was on the field.

I back the Old Timer view that the current attacking games of Amone and Sloan are trashed with Hunt at half. Sloan has far better ball skills than both Hunt and Amone so 5/8 is a good fit for him. Currently he can be found sniffing around the ball carrier but does not get his hands on it as much as he'd like unless he goes into dummy half. He will in the halves and you can guarantee he will feed our backs more often and with cleaner ball. With Sloan at 5/8 I'd like to see Lomax given a crack in his spot. But where to put Amone.
Reckon you’ve nailed it on Sloan

Amone, if external events don't change his future, will be a future lock. He needs to beef up a bit but I can see him in the Cameron Murray model of player. I know its a way off but with the step he could be very useful through the middle.
I saw cam Murray chop down Payne Haas 1 on 1. Amone is currently getting bumped off by Luke Keary and that's a massive gap. There would have to be fundamental and significant changes to the way he defends. I see all the other bits but he has a long way to go in having the required physicality imo.

Edit: not to mention the difference in motor and workrate.

Does he have the defensive strength and the body shape for 5/8? I reckon he's every bit a winger. Alternatively, I reckon Lomax has the right body and attributes to be a fantastic fullback. I reckon Hunt would be a brilliant 5/8. Amone 14.

They're the changes I'd trial.

Carr is an interim coach, he knows it, the players know it, the BOD knows it.

To lambast his 'pressers' is really just looking for a reason to be negative.

If our new permanent HC, and let's assume that to be Ryles, cannot communicate or speak any better on their 1st interview, does that mean we crap all over him also?

Carr at the very least, in the very short time he had, made the correct calls on selection and even adjusted that the hr before kick-off. The emotion he (and Timmins I must admit), showed in the box, reveals a dedicated, heartfelt and devoted coach to his playing group. Whereas, Griffin would have been still chewing on his gum and guzzling Coke zero.

Again, Carr is an interim, how he speaks is totally irrelevant to his ability to coach.

Get rid of Amone.

I think his pressers have been great.

There are too many double standards about our coaches in general.

Lots of us regularly questioned/insulted Hook's intelligence for his mannerisms and the way he spoke (as you have just done). So I'm not surprised to see people direct the same criticism at Carr.

The enthusiasm thing that keeps getting thrown around is a cop out too. How often do we see Bennett show anything other than the same facial expression at all parts of a game? He shows very little and does that make him a bad coach?

If anyone was watching NRL 360 during the week, Gordon Tallis mentioned he was coached by Hook in a QLD team (as an assistant I believe) and that Hook's coaching style is very similar to Bennett's.

Given coaches are humans like we are, let's just let our coaches coach and apply the same standards to all of them rather than judging one coach for one thing and not judging the next coach for the same.

I’m not sure it’s relevant that Carr is more articulate than Hook, he just is, that’s neither here nor there.
I’m also not sure that the enthusiasm and passion that Carr shows compared to Hook means a whole lot, as mentioned, Bennett doesn’t show much emotion.
One thing that is very clear though is that Carr understands the importance of selecting the best 17 available, something that Hook couldn’t grasp, he either had an agenda or didn’t understand football. Mbye?

I think it’s relevant. The coach has to communicate with supporters as well. Hook was mind-numbingly boring and dished-up platitudes that were pure BS. He treated supporters like they didn’t matter. I, for one, found his style really aloof and arrogant and I’m so relieved to no longer have to tolerate it.

Anyone else kind of hoping Todd Payten gets sacked and Dean Young takes over as there new head coach for the next few years so he's no chance of coming to us?
I really doubt it will be Dean Young. If it is, I'm a gonna give the club and following the Dragons the big heave ho.

Wouldn't blame you when he coached us we won 2 games under his regime, but I'm worried as long as his dad is there he is a chance for sure sadly.
