And its a massive handbrake on any potential for international growth...

"This sport is called 'Rugby', but dont go confusing it with 'Rugby'!! Get it?? 'Rugby'. Not 'Rugby', 'Rugby'...."
](*,)](*,)](*,)

Don't go confusing it with rugby union even though the two are terribly similar?

Oh, and don't read about the history of this new sport, it will only confuse you.

Yeh, exactly...

RL and RU are two very similar sports, yet they are independent of one another. Unless we are looking to remerge with Union or trying to rid the coattails of its success overseas, there is no good reason to keep their name. All it does is muddy the water when trying to introduce new people to the sport.

I mean, if the extent of our goals are to pick up the dregs of Union fans who accidentally paid for tickets/player registration to the wrong "Rugby", then keep it as is (Like the chinese knock off "mApple Computers"). But id like to think we are aming higher than that.

The game cannot grow in new markets as long as the other "Rugby" exists and we choose to stand firmly in its shadow...

Oh, and don't read about the history of this new sport, it will only confuse you.

What??

Oops, should have put those in quotes in the same style as you, as if you were saying it to a newby.

Ahh, right..

Well, my points still the same. Sure the 2 codes have a common origin, but if we are to have any prospect of growth we need to step out of Unions shadow, stop trying to ride its coattails and take the handbrake off our game.

I would have thought Touch is independent from any rugby and an entity in their own right with just a few partnerships here and there.

I've emailed sportAccord regarding the progress of the RLEF request - they replied they are not allowed to comment on it. You think it would be a breeze - there is only one reason I can think of as to why it may not be...

I heard a few days ago that last month there was a vote on rugby leagues membership by the Sports Accord members. One current member knocked it back, guess who?!!
But apparently just an administration formality

Brilliant news in any case.

Instead of saying "guess who blocked it" lets start naming and shaming rugby union....only because it'll show up in google search results..

If you wrote " rugby union objected to rugby league" blah blah blah it'll trigger a search result if someone search rugby union v rugby league...or whatever....it'll show how petty they are..
