Is Gallen over-rated

You can't blame the player for being over-rated. Gallen is a freak, plays brilliant football and has a massive engine. He deserves allot of praise he is the best lock in the modern era certainly and easily among the top5 NRL players in the comp (With Slater, Smith.etc). He has cleaned up his game heaps and is no where the grub he used to be. It would be a lie to say "He's a player I don't want at my club". He is just a pure-freak. Does he have his flaws? He's human no one is perfect.

The media are to blame for him being "apparently" over-rated they choose their "media-players" and will write and brag the crap out of them till the end. So it's not really the players choice if they get over-rated due to be the focus in the media. Does he deserve praise in the media? Hell yeah. Is it to much? There's always a limit. But you can't deny he's a incredible player and he's one of the best going around.

Gallen is an over-rated c#nt. He is also one of the dirtiest players to ever play the game. I have no idea how he got the NSW captaincy. Goes to show how thin NSW stocks are.

I'd like to see the c#nt tested for PEDs, too.

There needs to be more transparency in the NRL regarding PED testing.

''He's the best I've seen. He's some sort of freak, to be honest, and there's no other way to put it. God's just given him a bit more than he gave the rest of us.''
- Shane Webcke talking about Paul Gallen.

Or Fire...Internet nuff nuff.

He f**king owned the Raiders last week.

He is quite clearly the best forward in the world right now. I don't know how you could overrate that. Unless you are saying he is the greatest player ever or something. I like how the Shark supporters worship him. Its good. That is what Rugby League and sport is about innit.

I loved those Don Bradman of Rugby League sigs.

Also is the thread starter Haynetrain with a new sock because he tends to troll like him. He hasn't called anyone a dope yet though.

EDIT

Best forward in the world after Cameron Smith soz.

He is a good player, but he is overrated in the sense of how good the media make him out to be.

He is not alone though. Danny Buderus was NEVER the best player in the world, Benji Marshall is not currently close to being the best player in the world - etc. Its all just media hype.

Gallen is a good player. But just like Benji Marshall the media has over rated him.

Disagree, what more can a player do?

He makes a ton of tackles, around 200 meters a game and a couple of line breaks and this is on a consistent basis.

It's not just the fact he makes tackles the, it's the tackles he makes and the fact he's working just as hard in the first minutes as he is in the final minutes. The guy is a dead set freak with a monster workload. He is an an exceptional player. He is a freak. Benji Marshall is a talented player who occasionally shows his flair but goes missing for large periods of the match, he is overrated.

He definitely benefits from the modern obsession with stats and all the people playing Dream Team etc. Still a fine player though as most of his work is quality and he still poses a threat to defensive lines.

Well I am reasonably sure his tears don't actually cure cancer.... So he's probably overrated a little

I would like to see a larger sample size and some trials on other sorts of cancer.

Now if only we could make him produce tears.

Maybe then he could be elevated to matt priors boot cleaner.

He's overrated in the same sense that Joey Johns, Brad Fittler, Darren Lockyer & Billy Slater are.

Damn good players spoken up to god like proportions.

I like stats as much as anyone, possibly even more so. But sometimes I think we get too caught up with them. Still as you say he is a fine player. Just not as great as some like to make out.

^^^^This

It's the gronks fresh out of high school or the uni students with their pseudo intellect who wank off over stats.

Gallen IS a fine player who in defence, tackles anything that moves towards his line of vision and in attack, runs it up ....gets tackled....and plays the ball. Yes he can do it a lot during a game, but it's all fairly basic average talent stuff.

He is no where near the best forward in the world. He's just a forward who plays with his heart on his sleeve and gives his all for whichever team he plays with.

He is however, the best thing the NSWankers have at the moment and that is why there is so much hype and jizz surrounding him.

Mehhh.......let 'em have something to be proud of I s'pose.

If you have Gallen taking 25 hit-ups and, say, 3 other props taking 25 between them, vs a system where 4 props take 12-13 hit-ups each, does this mean that Gallen is amazing or that the team game plan is just "pass the ball to Gallen" all the time? There are enough players in a rugby league team to share responsibilities. I'm not going to criticize one bloke for taking 1000 hit-ups but how is it actually necessary and how does it benefit the team?
