How good was he tonight? Knees to the head, intercept pass for a try, knock ons all over the place. Definitely underrated!

When Paul Gallen is on the opposing side to the team you're supporting do you actually worry when he gets the ball?

Not so much when he gets the ball, no. He is a great defender and for a backrower has some good passing skills etc, but he isnt as damaging of an attacker as someone like T Sims or SBW before he turned into a skirt. He's a workhorse and the kind of player every team wants, but not the kind that worries me too much, especially in Origin.

Poor game tonight is human.

Poor game Angry........??

Thought it was a pretty stock standard performance for captain Gals to be honest....

Minute 3: Knees Taylor in the head. Gets himself put on report and the Bunnies score from the resulting penalty.

Minute 17: Throws intercept pass to Merrit. Bunnies try.

Minute 20: Takes a dive after Taylor pushes him in the back. Refuses to get up hoping for a penalty. Is rightly ignored by the referees.

Minute 28: Passes ball to Degois on the 5th. Degois not even expecting the ball. Turn over

Minute 31: Knocks on from kick off. Turn over

Minute 55: Falls mysteriously with out a hand being laid on him and has to leave the field with a "knee injury". Medical staff can't find anything wrong with him. (possible delayed reaction after kneeing Taylor in the head...?)

Oh yes people.

This is rugby leagues greatest forward we're watching.

What a f*cken joke.......

You have a serious problem. Fourex.

List me 5 forwards who are better and why. It will be thaiday, Scott, Dallas Johnson, Carl Webb and josh mcguire.

So much hate.

Well at the start of a set probably via various players taking hit-ups. I'm yet to see a team give up and walk off the field early in a set because they don't have Paul Gallen to take all their hit-ups for them.
Great so you say the best way to get to the other end is to take hit ups and Gallen does more than anybody with ease.

In the past, I've been highly critical of Paul Gallen. I felt he played the game in poor spirit and this manifested itself in the dirty play he would engage in. My belief is that his attitude had a detrimental effect on the teams he played in.

But he has certainly made substantial improvements to his game. Namely, tempering his reckless streak, ........

Your 1st instincts are usually the best ones DQ.

The grub gene is strong in Paul Gallen, and no matter how hard his fans wank off over him for being "super natural" ........even Gallen cannot suppress this dark side that lurks within.

If you haven't seen a trade mark Gallen grub move for a while, all that means is it's not a question of IF it will surface again

it's only a question of when.

Just ask Dave Taylor..........

Again, the is he "overrated" question depends on how highly you rate him.

He is a work horse, gets through a lot of hitups and tackles. But in my books he is not the best forward in the world. He doesn't contribute to wins as much as he needs to to be in the conversation.

If Gallen did an ACL the Sharks would obviously not be as good, but I reckon they'd still make the 8. If Carney did an ACL, I reckon they'd be in the bottom 5.

Sam Burgess at full fitness is more likely to cause a semi line break and be a game changer. Paul Gallen can be limited by a coherent well drilled defense, like ours.

So to sum up, if you rate him as a excellent forward. He's not overrated. If you rate him as a great, and the worlds best forward, he is overrated.

Well, he had an "off" night, was clearly injured from the start and got more injured as the game went on, played only 57 minutes, and still made 123 metres, 21 tackles (none missed) and 2 offloads. He nearly scored and nearly set up another despite looking worse for wear as the match went on, and when the Sharks started getting momentum after half time it was in part because of him. Then he went off hurt.

And yes, he was put on report and made 2 errors, one resulting in a 65m run away try. But plenty of forwards will go all year without doing that much work, and he was way off his normal game.

Souths have been doing fine without Burgess. Gallen is the best forward in Australia except for Cam Smith.

Mate stop drinking so much fourex it's shrinking your brain..

Bet you had the pencil and pad out hardcore tonight trying to justify yourself in this thread.. You got lucky and he had an uncharacteristic bad game..albeit for his standard..

Like shaggs said, name 5 forwards in the game better than Gallen and why you think so.. This will be good.. might be a new thread coming up here.. Lol@MrFourex..

So what if he does more? Shit, why doesn't the hooker just keep passing the ball back to him, he can take 6 hit-ups a set. Cronulla might not score another point all season but he'll still be the #1 forward in the game.

It isn't my fault that the bleeding obvious escapes you.
