Is Inglis a team player?

I have always admired Greg Inglis the football player. There is no doubt he is a very good football player. But in the back of my mind I have also had some doubts about him. I am not sure he is a team player.

For those who follow the NFL, Inglis reminds me a lot of Randy Moss. Both Moss and Inglis only play to their full potential when they want to or when they need to. They can go whole games and do very little, if anything at all. You might not sight either player until the last minute of the game. For me both players lack motivation. I have always had the impression that both players are loners.

When Inglis left the Storm the suggestion was that after a few years away he would be back in Melbourne. Well with all that has happened in recent days (the failure to pay the legal fees) all the talk out of Melbourne today is that he will never be welcomed back. He has burnt the bridge that was still connecting him to the Storm.

Inglis supposedly come to an agreement with the Broncos a few months back. The Broncos got sick and tired of waiting for him to sign a contract. According to a Telegraph report Inglis was sitting in Bruno Cullens office on Friday morning saying "he wanted to remain in Brisbane and marry his long-time girlfriend Sally Robinson. "

An hour later he was on a plane to Sydney for talks with the Rabbitohs in the company of his parents. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...raw-inglis-offer/story-e6frexnr-1225948773714

There has also been talk about Inglis playing Rugby Union.

For me Inglis is all about himself. You maybe able to say that about a lot of the younger players today. But when a player like Inglis is gowing to chew up a lot of your teams salary cap you want him to play flat out more often then he does now. And most importantly you want him to be a team player.

Not denying his obvious talent but I would have to say he is the most overrated player in the NRL. All because he just doesn't involve himself enough in games.

Of the Storms Big Four players, I would have wanted Slater, Crock or Smith before I even thought of Inglis.

Who cares? Inglis is off to spend his time drinking goon. Can't wait to watch him miss selection next year.

If you gave the entire souths side to any other side they would become premiership contenders, however the redfern culture rubs off on them.

Centres can only play off their inside men, we'll see what he can do if he plays FB for Souths. Everyone talks up his FB capabilities, I''ve never seen him play in FB personally

Stats from 9 games at FB in 2006. 202 mtrs per, 74 tackles breaks, 16 line-breaks, 10 tries, 3 try assists. Personally I have my doubts about him playing there now, but he did go well agaisnt Parra earlier in the year when switched

He won't be fullback next year if he signs, even though I'd like him too. Lang's mate Wesser will be the fullback and Inglis could be wasted and not get clean ball on the outside from Sandow/Sutton. Inglis next to Taylor or Burgess though will be difficult to stop if given room IMO.

As for being a team player- I've always seen Inglis as the guy who could do a whole lot more but does enough to get by and that "just enough" is just really really exceptional.

He is a team player. On the Storm's stacked team he didn't have to go 100% non stop. It was almost a case of "you go, i go" with them, watch the Miami Heat with Lebron and Wade and you'll know what I mean. And let's not forget he is a centre. Centres and wings can be limited week to week, they're unlikely to have superstar level games everytime. If we are smart enough to put the #1 on his back I think he reaches his full potential.

As for the Storm's big 4, Cronk is the overrated one.

So too did the storm, they had to let someone go and Inglis was less important to the club than any of the other three.

I dont know about team player but he seems easily influenced. Listens to too many people. 1 minute he'll never play against Storm, then suddenly he's ready to move to Brisbane, 1 minute he doesnt want to come to Sydney, next minute he's ready to go to the Rabbits.

Agree...in 06 he was a smaller than he is now and more agile as he did not have the upper body strength that he has now.

For the player that he is, IMO he can be a little lazy in defence and let his winger do the work which leads to gaps down the winger's side. He often allows the attacking player to slide outside him which is not always the best option.

As for being a team player...I suuppose his individual brilliance will always cause questions about his cohesion with his team mates.

He's not a team guy.

He's now a bitch. And I'd be worried about him turning into Owen Craigie.

THIS. He comes across as very naive, not too much intellect and very easily influenced by the people around him. Same vibe as SBW. Easy prey for people like Mundine and Khoder Nasser who like to push their own agenda.

One thing that gets me from the news articles today was that he supposedly took his parents with him to meet with Souths. He's 23 for gods sakes and employs a manager to handle the business negotiations - why does he (supposedly) need his parents there to hold his hand?
