I have always admired Greg Inglis the football player. There is no doubt he is a very good football player. But in the back of my mind I have also had some doubts about him. I am not sure he is a team player.
For those who follow the NFL, Inglis reminds me a lot of Randy Moss. Both Moss and Inglis only play to their full potential when they want to or when they need to. They can go whole games and do very little, if anything at all. You might not sight either player until the last minute of the game. For me both players lack motivation. I have always had the impression that both players are loners.
When Inglis left the Storm the suggestion was that after a few years away he would be back in Melbourne. Well with all that has happened in recent days (the failure to pay the legal fees) all the talk out of Melbourne today is that he will never be welcomed back. He has burnt the bridge that was still connecting him to the Storm.
Inglis supposedly come to an agreement with the Broncos a few months back. The Broncos got sick and tired of waiting for him to sign a contract. According to a Telegraph report Inglis was sitting in Bruno Cullens office on Friday morning saying "he wanted to remain in Brisbane and marry his long-time girlfriend Sally Robinson. "
An hour later he was on a plane to Sydney for talks with the Rabbitohs in the company of his parents. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...raw-inglis-offer/story-e6frexnr-1225948773714
There has also been talk about Inglis playing Rugby Union.
For me Inglis is all about himself. You maybe able to say that about a lot of the younger players today. But when a player like Inglis is gowing to chew up a lot of your teams salary cap you want him to play flat out more often then he does now. And most importantly you want him to be a team player.
Not denying his obvious talent but I would have to say he is the most overrated player in the NRL. All because he just doesn't involve himself enough in games.
Of the Storms Big Four players, I would have wanted Slater, Crock or Smith before I even thought of Inglis.
