Is it impossibe for Souths to a win a grand final??

I've tried to win the NRL grand final with Souths and I'm under the impression that it can't be done. This was on legend mode, imagine what it would be like on League God!! I am not using any mods. The game is v Raiders on the PC version.

I can get to the finals most times but it all goes pear shaped after that so I saved the final game and have been trying to crack it ever since without success.

Just what are you playing at Mario?? Is it a built in NRL directive that states that Souths can never win a final?? ...or is it just my piss-poor playing ability?? Me-thinks the latter!!

I've tried to do it about 40 times without success. Anybody done it?? I wait with interest...

It is definitely possible for Souths to win. I've done it myself, though I can't recall on which difficulty level.

Given that the game seeks to replicate the relative strengths and weaknesses of each team, Souths gamers will find it harder on the higher difficulty levels. Try searching the forums or read the back of the manual for some play tips (usually peoples defensive skills are the ones that need most work).

Of course, when you do finally win the Grand Final with Souths, it should be very satisfying

Mate, I can't even do it with the Eels.

I have done it (on the second hardest difficulty - Legend, I think) with the Sharks, Chooks, Panthers and Raiders.

With the Eels, I have:

* No game breakers (Dykes?)

* No pace (Like Nurt and Grothe aren't quick)

* No great tacklers (Hello, Hindmarsh?)

* No tackle busters (Tsoulos?)

I can never put points on as Parra, which, as a Parra fan is disappointing.

Not even re-assembling the 2001 team (you know, J Cay, Buetts, PJ, etc.) can I beat teams!

And no, it's not because I suck at it. It's just that the computer is aparently so much better at that level.

And I just want to ask also:

How come Hindmarsh has a fitness rating of 4 (although, it doesn't mean much; I can play an 80 minute game without substitution and he is as fresh as a daisy)?

Why are some teams *cough* Chooks *cough* SO much better than everyone else?

I am not the best gamer, but I play it a fair bit (it's a good game) and I love it. But I played as Australia and lost to the Roosters 16-14! LOL!

I was actually leading 14-10 with about 30 seconds remaining when MINICHIELLO made a break and I could not chase him down (even with my own Mini).

This is why you must get the PC version and patch it. I changed all the Team Stats to Attack: 10, Defence: 1, Willingness: 10

When I play a team their stats are changed to all 10's and my team has increased speed and acceleration, so as to compensate for the league god difficulty level.

My teams stats are:

Attack: 1, Defence: 7, Willingness: 10

Guys I've built the 2005 Eels based on our five key signings and some speculation surrounding who will and will not be around in 2005 (i.e: Dykes) and I just won the GF last night over the Roosters, finished 1st and had a points differential of +399. Yes, you can score points with the Eels new side.

I've won on legend and league god with the base Parramatta team, Jamie Lyon, Matt Petersen, Burt, they're all guns out wide. Defense is tough but as long as you can time aggressive tackles well and know not to overuse them, its not too bad. The key is field position, wait for them to give away penalties or their poor kicks to touch (if they even kick on the last) then wear them down. Grubber behind the line with the halfback, too, it works surprisingly well, and close to the line can force a dropout.

Just don't give away penalties, use the aggressive tackle only when its either a must make one on one situation (say with the fullback) or you want to force someone into touch. Sure up the defensive line, and you'll be able to win with any team.

Saying that, I'm off to try and win the comp with souths on base stats.

i'll try that. scored a quality full lengther with him. ran from the right touchline to the right in a flat line twice got through and stepped lockyer to make the score 37-22(in the rain).

ive won the comp with souths on legend the other week, though i was very pissed that in the semi final i had a full house against the knights but in the GF against the dogs telstra was virtually empty

that joven clarke smashed a prop for me the other day. he spear tacked him. with his tackle ability and size it should be imposssible.

Winning with Souths without Clarke is a lot more difficult, not to discredit what you guys have done, but I don't think it counts winning a premiership with Souths on legend if most of your tries are scored by Clarke running as halfback from scrums, use an up to date lineup and see how you go, its damn tough. Adam MacDougall helps a lot though, and Bryan Fletcher.

I've just started my third legend competition after winning my last one and I've had the most bizzare start to the season. Playing as the 2005 Eels, I've now played 3 rounds and have had 3 golden point matches. The results have been a loss, a drawn game and a win - the tension is killing me...
