Is it time to bring back Craig Gower?

The Knights playoff position is precarious. They have to win both remaining games to ensure a playoff spot because Cowboys and possibly Warriors and Broncos will overtake them. Lose to Brisbane next Friday and it is good night Knights.

Craig Gower has the creative brain to create openings for the outside backs. He can also kick goals if he practices.

Perhaps it is time to relegate Tyrone Roberts to the bench?

In order for the Broncos to pass us they would have to beat us by 46 points...

Are you saying that definitely won't happen?

We've been lucky with results the last few weeks otherwise we could be sitting from 8-12.
We need to win our last 2, simple as that.

You miss the overall point. In round 25 next weekend, if the Broncos beat the Knights, then Knights stay on 25 points, while 2 other teams now on 24 points (e.g. Cowboys and Warriors) may win and leap over Knights and land on 26 points. That would relegate Knights to 9th place. If Cowboys and Warriors then both win their final game it is good night to the Knights.
That is regardless of what happens to the Broncos in the final round.

Roberts would have got the punt after the Broncos game with Gidley moving to half and Gower on the bench (I'd have them swapped personally), but Gower is out with injury.

Also, are you actually Gower? You seem to enjoy talking him up!

I dont miss that point at all. My comment was in reference to the original post saying The Broncos will pass us.

Also if Cronulla beat the Cowboys on Sunday (which is not improbable) 27 points will likely be enough.

No I am not Gower. However I do admire his talents.

I didn't realize he was injured.

But it seems to me that Gower is needed at this time by the tumbling Knights. Tyrone Roberts has talents, but he is just not the creative player that Gower is.

Have to agree mate, in the 15 or so minutes he played at half against the Broncos he showed more than Roberts has all season.

Gower will be needed if the club makes the semis. Tyrone Roberts is not up to the Big Time contests, and now Gidley is injured, the club desperately needs Gower to play and weave his magic for the outside backs to capitalize on.

Wouldnt mind him at half.

I thought Tyrone looked pretty good in his stint at hooker. I do worry about having Mullo, Roberts and Gower in the D line though.

I think those three are all pretty capable defenders Tim. Bedsy gives us a great presence in defence which those guys can't, but none of them are Sandow/Prince/Benji etc.

If one of those guys is our weakest defender we're doing alright IMO...as long as they're bringing enough to the table in attack of course.

They are all capable, but with the 3 of them there, they will be targeted, which means Scott, Rochow, Smith, House and McKinnon will need to do alot of work.

Our backrow attack is already poor, without these guys being blown due to D responsibilities.

Its not missing tackles I am worried about. We refuse to wrestle in the tackle, so these guys wont get many dominant tackles. We will struggle to contain the ruck if they are targeted correctly.

None of those guys are a liability in defence. You don't see them go into a tackle and worry that they are going to get bounced off or come up with an error. The only player that gives me that feeling is Uate.

Jeez, Mullo is the last half in the game Id want to be running at if I was an opposition forward. He is very far away from being a weak defencive link

Again, I am not concerned as individuals. They get the job done. They dont, Mullo an occasional exception, get dominant tackles and slow the ruck down.

We rely on winning the impact to slow the ruck down. These guys wont/dont win the impact against the best backrowers in the league.
