If any Sydney clubs had experience at long a period in the bottom half of the ladder, in mediocrity and never even played deep into finals- they would have crowds of under 10k and close to folding.

you mean like the three time wooden spooner tigers who haven’t sniffed a final series in 14 years and only 3 in their 25 yr existence?

At the start of this season, they had won 14 out of their past 80 games …

So ? How long can you hold onto that for ?
Infinitely longer than having won nothing.
I was a Tigers fan then but lived on the Gold Coast, when the Gold Coast got a team and my favourite player at the time ( Scott Prince) I switched. I'm riding how bad the Titans have been, switch to being a fan and not most of the time. I've been to games when they were making finals, big crowds, great atmosphere!
And we all know that there's not much longer for the Tiger to get it together but they're on a hundred year old foundation with premierships and rich history.

I think the Tigers might have reached rock bottom … if they have been able to go through the past 3 years straight off the back of Covid. with seemingly a healthy supporter base still sticking around ..,they might just be ok now…. Having proper Leadership on the board as of just recently and a cut from those dinosaur owners at HBG might prove to be a very fortunate move for them …

I want to see the Titans have success …it’s perplexing why they aren’t doing better as they have a seemingly good team on paper …also having them underachieve on and off the field only encourages those AFL fleas …

They were doing well until they bought Hayne and just when they started to recover from that and started turning it around, they bought Fafita.
Spending big on lazy players sets a terrible standard!
Dropping Fafita is the right thing to do but they need some players back pronto.
If they just play consistently and fans know what they're getting into, they'll kick arse.
Even making the finals a few years in a row will see a big bump in crowds and members.
At least the Tigers were consistently poor.

I'm for the Dragons to move permanently to Wollongong with only trial at Kogarah.
Finals at the SFS
They need to keep a link with Sydney for fans and sponsors. Ideally it would be 8 at WIN and 4 (Roosters, Eels, Souths, Bulldogs for reciprocal membership) at Allianz. Gives Sydney and Illawarra fans both an 8 game membership option.

Swap Eels with Tigers , but it's not bad.

As an ex Steelers fan, i will be fair. Have six games at Wollongong and the other six game Allianz. Especially if Kogarah gets no upgrade. Playing five or six at Allianz, (depending on magic round, Vegas), Dragons can build up revenue from corporates and attendances. And reinvest that revenue back into the juniors.

Dragons could have blockbuster games at Allianz against Roosters, Sharks, Eels, Rabbits, Bulldogs, Tigers. Doesn't mean Dragons play those six teams at Allianz every year, but over a two year cycle. Dragons still need to play against non Sydney teams at SFS 2.0, like Broncos and Warriors.

Yeah, that would be a sensible way to de-clutter Sydney, capitalize on the potential with being a regional club, and create stability for the staff/players.

I think that there needs to be a balance though. I'm not sure where exactly but only a small number of traditional cross town rivals will create an event type game. I'm more leaning towards Tigers, South, Roosters and Dogs which will maximise attendance and push the 40k , perhaps creating a little fomo.
While the games in the gong at 8 creates a good amount of games for a season pass and regulars.
I also feel that Wollongong is big enough for its own team and that 8 games feels more in that fashion.
Charity shield at Kogarah being the only game should create its own event and preserve some history.

If Souths and Dragons commit to Allianz, then you could have a 7:7 ratio. With reciprocal rights, they could play 5 home, 2 away games against Roosters and Souths at Allianz, and seven home games at Win.
