The trouble is last year, that the run of good wins disguised how badly coached they actually were. They managed to get by on good talent in good form. The trouble is when the form slips or some of the talent is missing, there is nothing to fall back on. A well coached team would not have lost the GF last year from the position they were in. Unless they start in blistering form, Kev won’t make the end of next season.

Lack of discipline, and the unwillingness of the coaches and admin at the Broncos to instil that discipline helped cause the downfall this year. Also poor recruitment and retention. Not finding adequate replacements for those forwards who left (e.g. Flegler) at the end of last season ensured the fall.

Some of these quotes are just hilarious, from listing Stephen Kearney in a group of 'great coaches' to suggesting they'd be better in an old gym where they are free to leave sweat everywhere.

The reality is that Walters is a bad coach because he cannot gameplan. Last season's success was based on Walsh and Mam's break out seasons. But clubs had an offseason to adjust to their game. Walters isn't good enough to adjust for this. Just like how the Broncos collapsed in 2022 and in the 2023 Grand Final, when plan A doesn't work he is out of ideas.
