Is Kev gone?

I feel like some producers must have a twisted sense of humour. Gordy was a fantastic player but as a human he’s very….unsmart. Something happens and he just spirals into a diatribe about how it bad without being able to formulate any articulate thought about it. It’s almost uncomfortable to watch at this stage, after almost 2 decades in media he is still out there every single night like a deer in headlights completely out of his depth.

His whole argument about this is basically Kevie is my friend and he got the arse so I am mad.

I rate Madge and think he’s a good pickup and for sure a step above Kev. I still feel it’s a little harsh how this all played out. Kev got the broncos within inches of winning a GF against the greatest NRL team ever and only missed out because of a massive capitulation which you can hardly blame on him. 12 months later and he is shown the door. Pretty crazy.

Agree… I said ages ago that McGuire is the sort of coach the Broncos need, but…… I don’t see egos in that team buying in. I reckon he’ll struggle to get respect from certain players unless he can get in a couple of ‘winners’. He could really do with a couple of Dale Finucane/Cam McInnes type players who will live, train and play at the highest level of professionalism and intensity, and will force teammates to come along with them.
If the players ‘buy in’ to what Madge is offering, they’ll win comps, if they don’t, it’ll go horribly wrong, and quickly.
Carrigan is the only one off the top of my head. He was flogging himself this year for no results. The rest are show ponies.

Haas - this year's origin series was the first time hes played with a bit more aggression. I think he'd be far more dangerous if Brisbane had the outside backs to consistently make meters out of their own end early like penrith do for JFH & Leota

Second row starters & depth are a joke, that is a big recruitment hole he has to fill.

Gordie is terrible… he often starts making a point, but then the examples he’ll use actually counteract the point he’s making. I also find he chooses his side of the argument based on who he’s talking to. You’ll often hear him disagree with Dobbo on triple M about a subject, but then when Buzz is on Triple M arguing the opposite of what Dobbo has said, Gordie will then argue the opposite side. He likes to ‘pile on’ against certain people, playing up to the crowd.
He was whinging on Triple M this weekend, essentially saying that the fact he’s an ‘old boy’ is irrelevant, and that he’s paid for an opinion, so gives it, and it’s unbiased. Now, it might be true that being an ‘old boy’ isn’t what’s making his view biased, but being Kevvies mate is absolutely impacting his impartiality and he’s got a real bad take on this situation as a result.

It was funny because on 360 he likes to join the pile on against Buzz and him and Braith look at each other and giggle, tonight Braith and Read had the giggles at Gordy.

Agree..I thought he was worth 12 weeks next year to show progress before a reassessment.

You have to respect the way Brisbane went about this. They fired someone who apart from this year really didn't under achieve and importantly, they had a plan for who they wanted as a replacement. They identified an issue with Kev and were ruthless when most other clubs wouldn't be.

It is an all in hire IMO for the reasons already mentioned. Madge will probably get fired in year 3 or at least not have his contract renewed. Everyone knows what type of a coach he is and day after day in club land that wears the players down. I think he will put them in a position to win in 2026 but whether they do win is another matter.

The way he coaches suggests they won't be in a good position to win the comp in the immediate years after he leaves.

As far as that clown Tallis what a petulant child he is.

All this talk of Madge wearing out players is nonsense

It depends on the playing group and how much say he has in running and picking the side

He could easily be a ten year coach

He’s at the club with unlimited resources and their pick of qld juniors

Retention of the good juniors has been a big issue

Eg why was dearden let go

I was stunned that he refuses to have anything to do with the Broncos because he's now a Titan (never played a game there, only on the payroll now). Yet he's so passionate about who should be coaching the club he refuses to have anything to do with. Poor Ol Gordy, not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I'm looking forward to seeing how some of the media reported pampered players react to Madges techniques. Good times ahead.

Yes, I’m sure the survey monkey review was very respectful.

Walters sacking was being talked about in the weeks before finals, particularly by the media. The decision makers at the Broncos wanted to be seen as thorough and shrewd - ‘nobody is above the club, or the front office’. It was pretty cut throat, but telling that there’s not much coming from the players themselves.
And to top it all off, the very same media that was asking Walters if his job was on the line during post match press conferences, is now digging into the Broncos for sacking him and appointing Maguire.
Media sucks.

Media sucks.

Its funny how people in the media are criticising the Broncos for their quick appointment, yet bagged Parra for taking too long to appoint Ryles.

Its definitely the right decision to appoint an experienced coach in Maguire. I do feel for Kevvy who wanted that job for a long time and got his opportunity and was 3 minutes away from a premiership. This year was a poor year, not because of their position on the ladder but some of the results were ordinary, Storm, Dolphins, Dogs. Something didnt look right there.

As for Tallis, he's entitled to blow up being an ex Bronco but his comments about Maguire are just diabolical.
