"His side had just pulled out a season-saving golden point victory over St George Illawarra -but volatile Canberra coach Ricky Stuart wasn’t about to let his good mood get in the way of settling an old score.
Stuart started out his post-match press conference by praising his players’ efforts in the vital 18-14 win over the Dragons.
But his good mood turned dark when a journalist Stuart believes wrote an article suggesting prop Junior Paulo wanted to leave the Green Machine, dared to ask a question.
“We keep a lot of confidence in our squad amongst ourselves and we fight the enemy like you from the outside,” Stuart fired.
“Writing things the way you did about Junior Paulo was disgusting, especially after Junior Paulo told you it wasn’t true.
“Junior Paulo is very happy at this club and you didn’t need to write that.”
Paulo has publicly dismissed multiple media reports that he is unhappy in Canberra and wants to return to former club Parramatta.
However, as reported by
Sporting News Australia’s The NRL Lurker, it is understood Paulo told his former Eels team-mates all is not well in the nation’s capital."
