Yet Stuart got them higher than any other coach before last year and had them as a genuine premiership threat.
I was adamant last year that the Raiders overachieved on the back of Hodgsons form and a poor standard of competition and their performances this year have just reinforced that for me.
There are also 2 aspects of coaching: one is being able to identify players and build a squad, and the other is actually being able to coach what you have. Stuart defiently made a couple of good purchases, there's no denying that.
He falls down big time at the actual coaching part though. Although I think the Raiders squad is a bit overrated and they overachieved a bit last year, with that roster they should be playing a lot better than they are. The size of their forward pack alone should be enough to bully any other team out of the game.
They seem lazy, fat and unmotivated. They don't seem a happy camp in general and you wouldn't see players abusing each other on the field at a club like Melbourne. He also doesn't seem to be able to utilise his players' strengths (either that or he just doesn't give a shit about their development). He throws a shit load of money at a kid like Joe Tapine but then plays him out of position.
Raiders would be smart to sack him ASAP - the current squad has the potential to be successful with good coaching and motivation but you want it to happen before more skill is coached out of them or they start heading for the doors.
