Opinion Is Ricky Stuart the most overrated coach ever?

I dont see any fan can defend the refs in that game they were terrible. I mean I would take a win if the refs literally bet money on the raiders and were corrupt so I understand the sharks fans but outside of that ?

Our failures to make the finals is entirely on us but we got dudded in this specific game. Fans excusing performances like this is how we get such shitty refs

Imagine if this happened in a grand final. The weird flag thing and the terrible forward pass call from a ref who couldn't have possibly been in a position to make the call.

I love taking the piss out of Ricky as much as anyone but his presser last night raised some valid points. And before his presser I was thinking something similar about the officiating in rugby league. I just don't understand how or why officials decide to enforce/crack down on some rules one week, then not give a shit about them for 2 months... And then all of a sudden send emails to coaches out of the blue and start back on to it again... It's utter madness. No wonder players, coaches and fans crack the shits. What other sport does this? It'd be like NBA refs allowing goal tending for half a season, and then stop it all of a sudden, or like Ricky said, the ICC saying lbw's won't be given out unless it's hitting middle only one week, then going back to normal in the next Test natch.

Someone on the greenhouse pointed out since Mick Crawley came on as an assistant coach our attack has improved significantly. We are first currently in attack (souths yet to play) and the worst we have finished in attack since 2015 is 3rd. Our defence has sucked though.

So when genius dean pay our defensive coach moved on they moved Crawley one of the only guys hitting kpis to defence and gave brett white the attacking job.

This is the raiders summed up. Jobs for the boys.

Ricky has never been my favourite coach, but gee he had every right to blow up last night. Its funny how the same teams seem to get screwed week in and week out. Anyway last night was facial and heads should roll, but we are talking NRL now. Remember Kline robbed the Tigers against the Bronks, got a one week demotion but a few weeks latter is running around in SOO, so don't expect to see anything happen except Ricky being finned

Disagree.

Play to the whistle.

Here is a hypothetical, and something similar may have happened sometime.

Fastest winger in comp steps his opposite but touchy thinks he touched line and raises flag.

Winger is away.

I reckon the ref would carry on and go to video.

Similar to what happened here.

He wouldn't. It's similar to an inadvertent whistle. Play has been unnatturally affected and therefore cannot continue.

The NRL have said that play should have been stopped. The rule book says that the play should have been stopped.

With all due respect, you can disagree all you like but you're wrong, and anyone who shares your viewpoint is wrong.

What if the ref didn’t see the flag ?
Even if he thought it was a knock on he knew to let it play out so it could be checked.

Play on
It was a try
Nobody knocked it on, raiders wouldn’t stopped it anyway.
He split em like watermelon hit with an axe.

Sublime refereeing.

If it went the other way and the raiders were denied a try you can guarantee Ricky would’ve lost his shit that way as well.

He needs to concede.
He is shit and has f**ked a good team.

Cool post. The referees boss admitted it was a mistake and apologised.

Why are Sharkies fans taking this so personally? Did the NRL not include a card with your gift 2 points?

Only mistake was the bloke who put his flag up.
He knew it and immediately put it down when he knew he f**ked up.
The dumb merkin who let Katoa run past him needs to be dropped.... what a dumb f**ker.

How is it possible that the sharks were blessed with favorable calls, and their fans seem the most upset about the whole situation?
