Me: It's just a little unlucky. It's still good, it's still good!

It's just a little form slump. It's still good, it's still good!

LU collective: It's gone

Me: I know. 😞
It was over the moment the Cowboys ran us down.

Canberra co-captain Jarrod Croker had little to celebrate after returning from injury in the Raiders' devastating 44-6 loss to the Gold Coast on Saturday night in the national capital.

Key points:

  • The Raiders conceded eight tries in a morale-sapping loss to the Titans at their home ground
  • Canberra won three of their first four games, but have since lost nine of their next 11
  • Raiders coach Ricky Stuart says personnel changes are the only way to regain the team's energy
The 30-year-old centre has played only five games in 2021 after battling constant shoulder and knee injuries.

Croker said the heavy defeat was hard to swallow, especially after being on the sidelines since round seven this season.

"There's not a lot you can say really — it was a shock," said Croker, who had four missed tackles during the game and made an embarrassing error just after half-time when he fumbled the ball in the Titans' end zone to allow centre Brian Kelly to score an easy try.

"Sitting around watching is not much fun and those sorts of games aren't much fun either — [I'm] just lost for words really — it's not good enough."

The Raiders started the season well, with three wins from their first four games, but since then it has been mostly downhill.

Canberra has beaten only the Bulldogs and Broncos in that time, with the nine losses coming with an average margin of just under 18 points.

The Raiders are nominally only two points out of the top eight, but their poor points differential means they are effectively two games away and in desperate need to get back in sync.

Croker said it was hard to pinpoint a major reason for the loss.

"It's hard to get it [momentum] back at the moment," he said.

"It's not enjoyable to be part of [losses] — I doubt it's enjoyable to watch."

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart said it was a bitterly disappointing loss and that changes would be made to his side following a sixth defeat at home.

"I've got to find some energy; the only way to find energy is with new faces," he said.

Every coach has an expiry date with any team. Even Bennett with the Broncos. Stuart is no different.

Raiders feel like the 2020 Broncos, but it's a slower burn..

Things could get much uglier there before they get better.

I don't think its that he's lost the playing group but more the playing group (and coach) are not suited to these rules.... Our spine just isn't very good though. Hodgson isn't the player he used to be, Simple Jack can run good but lacks the required football iq for a good ball player. Williams is a passenger and Simonson is still very green in the number 1.

this isn't just rule changes either
the 6 again rule was in play in 2020, its the significant change

no
this is just insipid , heartless effort
they're playing with no ticker... they had that last year. They found a way through adversity

You can only stay on the emotional redline for so long. The team finally broke and now it doesn’t matter what ricky says it’s all just white noise. The players simply don’t give a f**k anymore about the results

The players have passed the hat around to buy an overhead projector off gumtree. Stick will lob up to training to see its the only thing there.

The players have heard him all before , the sting is gone it’s over.

Can pretty much lock up the thread with this comment. That's all it is. All the swearing, lost tempers, 'passion', it always has an end date. With Sticky, it always has - wherever he's gone.

Went down hill after Bateman left. Its strange to see a team flip from a very good side to an incredibly poor one so quick when they still have 75% of the same squad. Somethings not right down Canberra way behind the scenes imo.
