When the Raiders limp in to the finals with a -100+ points differential:

LU Collective: The Raiders are the worst team to ever play finals football.
Rickster: Ah yes, but we are playing finals football

The 2021 Tits were pretty bad and they were a blown try on the siren from winning the first week final.

The Raiders might get through week one. The top four team the next week would be nasty though.

If we sneak in, and i think we probably will
We've got a chance in week 1 because we can drag teams into the mud with us... but the first team to show up and play even remotely competent footy will smash us

We stink

We'll make the finals - games against the Tigers, Bulldogs and Sharks will make sure of that.

But that's as far as it goes. For Ricky and the club, that will be job done.

You see for most clubs, something like your best player who has been there for 14 years deciding it's time to move on because it's the only way to win a premiership before he retires would result in a massive internal review. But not this club. No, at this club it's just another piece of adversity that poor old Ricky's had to overcome, through no fault of his own. The unlucky bastard.

What the Fox Sports puff piece last week fails to mention is that the winning run that Ricky "galvanized the team into" after the Wighton news was full of tight wins against cellar-dwellers. The only win against a halfway decent team was against Souths, and they were without their Origin players. The rest of the list reads Dolphins, Bulldogs, Tigers, Eels, Roosters, Dragons. Hardly inspiring stuff. We were also absolutely munted by a Turbo-inspired Manly, the Warriors (x2) and the Knights - you know, teams that actually prove a threat and/or are playing well.

The Canberra Times are complicit, hardly daring to criticise Ricky or his methods lest they lose access to the club, and Ricky's mates in the Sydney media ensure he never cops the criticism his coaching, frankly, deserves. His interchange strategy is a running joke, his selections consistently boggle the mind and while I do appreciate how much he loves the club, being happy with a loss just so you can celebrate a 300th game "the right way" shows he's totally lost the plot.

But what's the point in complaining? He's here another 2 years officially at least, and then however long he wants it after that. Don't get me wrong, I love Ricky - fantastic player, clearly loves the club - but he needs to go. But if the weak-gutted dog thing wasn't enough for the board to take action, if our best players publicly declaring they've lost faith in being able to win a premiership here wasn't enough to cause even a ripple at the club, then we just have to strap ourselves in and try to enjoy the ride.

Yep... the only hope the Raiders have is we have:

Chevy Stewart, one of the best 18 year olds in the country at fullback.
Ethan Strange MOTM in U19's SOO team at centre but starting to really sparkle at 5/8th and we've just purchased Colonel Sanders, who's behind probably only Pezet in being the best young half in the game

Chevy and Strange have started playing NSW Cup this year and have gone from strength to strength. Really coming along nicely. And Sanders will be here to join them in 2025

There is a chance these 3 are talented enough to overcome Stuart. It's not a great chance but it's a chance none the less and that's the only hope we've got

Ricky is the epitome of your avg run of the mill coach. Wont win you a comp. wont cost you a wooden spoon. Its actually a great strategy for longevity as a coach! Dont build hopes up to be disappointed and don't annoy fans and sponsors by being crap too often.

Look forward to seeing all 3 in a roosters jersey.

You know, you can be quite eloquent when you're not going off about the referees.

Sebastian Kris is a good player but my goodness, Ricky has misused him this year. Kris playing at fullback never looked to really fit in that spot. He did his best through his ability but is simply not a fullback. Thank f**k by Croker's injury, he finally got back to playing there today. If Croker heals up, he should be playing NSW Cup for the rest of the year. I would not be surprised if this "Croker" injury is a nice way of not dropping him. Kris is an out and out centre. Im hearing Ricky may want him at 6 next year...lol.
