Is that the most one-sided refereeing performance you've seen this year?

I know that. I made the point as a counter to the people on here suggesting match fixing from officials.

And there would be nothing to counter if the comment was not made. It's a very, very bad look for the game and they leave themselves open to accusations of all types when making such ambiguous comments during a match.

This game showed three things blatantly obvious the whole season.

First the bunker technology is fine but when you let monkeys operate it you are never going to get things right.

Secondly the refs have no consistency in what they adjudicate on because they're too busy trying to appease players, coaches, and the nrl rather than referee what they see in the game and what the rule book says.

Thirdly, 12 nuggets for $5, only at KFC.

It doesn't actually matter what system you operate, the Bunker/Captain's Challenge/leave it to refs on-field like the old days etc. You're still getting the decisions out of incompetent fools. So buckle up people, expect the same for this finals series and next year onwards.

You know the refs have had a shocker when current and former players rip into them on Twitter.

The only incorrect call was the Titans first try. Hoffman should've been penalised for pushing Pearson in the back while he was trying to catch the ball.

- On the refs saying only 12 points in it. Personally I think people are overreacting to this rather severely (and venturing well into tinfoil territory). I see it as him saying that the game is still close and to remain watchful. A poor choice of words perhaps given the allegations over recent days, but much more innocent than what people are suggesting here.
Lol tinfoil hat territory.
I'm not a ref so maybe someone could clarify but I haven't ever heard scores discussed by refs and feel its completely inappropriate.

So many people in this thread completely missed the point.

It's not about Titans deserving a win, or the fact Titans have got some kind of special treatment in the past, or that people hate Brisbane and are just having a whinge - it's about fairness and sub-standard officiating in the best time of year to watch footy, when they have enough officials and enough intrusive technology to get it right (or at least review it). Any fan of any team can clearly see how ridiculous the game was as it went on. If you can't you're f**king blind.

For me it was just deflating.

The first week of the finals is meant to be an exciting time for all fans. I know that when my side isn't involved it is still easy to get geed up, because you know that high quality football will be on display. Gold Coast were probably never going to win that game. Their lack of classic comparison to Brisbane, and the fact they lost so many players were obstacles too great to over come. But their gritty character is the kind of things neutral fans like to see on display.

They were robbed of the opportunity to display this fully by officiating.

This is now the story of the game. Not Milford cutting defenses to ribbons, or any other high quality Broncos play, or Gold Coast fighting spirit. It is the officials, for the wrong reasons. Refereeing has cast a pall over the entire finals series. All we are thinking now is how many other games are they going to ruin.

Is Richard Silverwood available?

lol yeah there were a few head scratchers tonight. So it's good get the win, because I have a feeling the officials will cost a side their spot in the finals at some stage this series...
They already did. They cost the Titans a spot in week 2.

Broncos momentum was all generated by dodgy referee decisions. The referees even discussed the score among themselves... only 12 points? Shit that aint right. We got dis...

Silverswood was suspended earlier in the year for the third time for dodgy behaviour and has been sacked.

So yeah I can see why he'd be a more credible choice than the NRL refs. Get him in.

Everyone knows that the Broncos get more leg ups than any other team.

You just got to play through them.

Makes beating them even sweeter.

The refs lost control after the Roberts kick and just dug their heels in. The fact they didn't refer the Broncos tries re the possible bird obstruction (not sure if it was or wasn't) or the last knock on try shows that they panicked. Unfortunately those misses have been overshadowed

Pretty much.
Expect more calls to go their way next week and expect no punishment for either Parker nor Roberts.

This favouritism will only change when other clubs challenge for the top spot in jersey sales, club attendance, memberships consistently imo.

Hayne dropping that ball from the kick off at the beginning of the second half was a shocker. He did the same thing at he 49ers.

Archer spoke to media after game and defended the refereeing performance, saying Bunker staff had no jurisdiction over the Roberts kicking incident because they could only review as far back as the play-the-ball.

If Roberts had kicked Simpkins after he played the ball, it would have been fair game for the video review but because he lashed out beforehand it was destined to be left up to the review panel.

"The Bunker determined a try, which was after the play-the-ball period. The check on the try starts at the point of the play the ball, otherwise you could go all the way back through a set," Archer said

Whilst not exactly the same, the reason the refs did nothing with the Kasiano Parker kick was because it was in a previous play also. So it's not completely inconsistent.

That said I think you could argue Roberts was during the play the ball, not before. Had he knocked on there I think they would check it.

The Kahu try was ridiculous. Only one hour before in the 20s match Jay Field completed a marvellous movement only for the ball to be kicked out by the winger as he was grounding... The bunker ruled no try, with a drop out as the ball found its way over the dead ball line. Everyone was fine with that.

... The exact same thing happens in the 1st grade match and they rule a penalty try... These f**ks lack any real common sense.
