Is that the most one-sided refereeing performance you've seen this year?

The Broncos are a small but proud club in the midst of its longest premiership drought in history. We suffer from having to play a lot of Friday nights which keeps our crowds down to only 25-30k most weeks.

The players are under a lot of pressure having to live and work in the Brisbane fishbowl and they desperately want to see another Brisbane team introduced to help carry that weight of expectation.

Add to that, the media is obsessed with every innocent little thing the players do in their spare time. This is something the Sydney clubs just do not have to put up with.

Lastly we have to compete in a small market against the most popular club in the NRL plus the defending premiers. The Titans are owned by the NRL and are given wonderful players from other clubs as soon as they become available, eg Chris McQueen. Not to mention, they poach our brightest players such as Jarrod Wallace.

How about you take off the blinkers and recognise if we get the occasional bad call going our way all it's doing is going some way to redress the imbalances we have always had to put up with.

If you don't like it, join the minority of sports fans and don't watch our games.

You forgot to mention how you guys are constantly begging sponsors for money to pay your players or having to hire some shitty 2nd hand coach from a bigger club like the Knights.

He's an old man who knows nothing about Brisbane. We have to take what we can get.

NRL referees boss Tony Archer has defended a "regular communication" between referees that triggered a groundswell of frustration amongst NRL fans after the controversial elimination final between the Brisbane Broncos and the Gold Coast Titans last Friday.

The Titans looked to have found a way back into the match when Ryan James slid over late in the match at Suncorp Stadium.

On the back foot for most of the night, the converted four-pointer put the underdog Titans within striking distance at 40-28 with just seven minutes to play.

But it was an audio message between the whistle blowers immediately after the try that pricked the ears of some of the game's more in-tune fans.

"Only 12 points in this Badge," one referee said as coverage flicked to the Broncos setting up their kick restart.

The message, presumably aimed at assistant referee Gavin Badger, shocked a number of fans with social media lighting up following the eventual 44-28 win to the home side.

"After Ryan James scored "there is only 12 points in this Badge" .. Match fixed!" one fan said on Facebook.

"Woah after that call you have to wonder why 2 refs even care how many points are between the two teams," another wrote. "Supposed to be impartial and adjudicate equally… this game has been an absolute joke."

However, Archer said the communication was a natural part of the process between referees, allowing them to coordinate their positions during the final stages of a match.

"This is a regular communication trigger when scores are close to ensure the officials' positioning is correct," Archer told the Wide World of Sports.

"When there is a potential for a field goal, the assistant referee should position himself deeper so he does not get in the way of the attacking team.

"It is also a reminder to the touch judges to be aware of players who might be offside.

"The referee referenced the margin in order to remind all officials of the potential for a field goal."

Derp, When was the last time one of those dopes with a flag made a decision on offside that wasn't referred?

I don't believe there was anything 'sinister' in what was said, but shouldn't these dickheads be alert well positioned for the full 80?

Just goes to show how bad the leadership and processes are that they have to remind each other of what may happen in a close game.

rubbish.

morris was in.

The thing that stood out for me about that one was when my younger cousin, who I was watching the game with, screamed out "did you see that ? Morris' foot was two metres over the sideline" before the replays even started.

My cousin has 20% vision in one eye.

Sutton is ranked as Number 1 in the refereeing fraternity. He was told that he was only being demoted to pocket ref to appease the media and fans. They think their performance on Friday night was acceptable.

Archer seems to confirm the impression that his referees are concerning themselves with managing games rather than officiating them.
