IS the Call of Duty series of videogames the greatest scam of all time?

I have to say this. It simply amazes me that millions of gamers out there would be gullible enough to spend heard earned money on a series of games that hasn't changed in the time it's been in existence.

What's even funnier is when the CoD bandwagoners will go geniused over the most MINUTE change in each successive edition of CoD.

I swear, it's the biggest scam of all time!

It's all about online which is usually fun with a group of friends until you run in to noobs but not nearly as bad as Red Dead Redemption online.

What about the rugby league games, they were all crap..there is RL 1, 2, 3, RL Live and RL PSP. That equals to about 500 dollars of poor gameplay and just woeful.

If a game has the gameplay mechanics right, why should they need to change it up?

I would have thought new maps and single player campaigns may entice gamers to something like CoD.

You may as well say every franchise is a scam. Halo, any sports title, killzone etc etc.

it's one of the most polished FPS shooters I've played, has a good single player campaign with storyline has loads of people playing multiplayers...whats not to like?

gears of war 2 was similar to the first one, didnt make that a scam. The god of War series has all had similar mechanics - thats still f**king kicks ass

Not even worth mentioning in the same breath.

I'll finish the hard run through this weekend, not going to bother with rank 15 on MP (An 11 atm) and certainly won't bother with tier 1 unless I have time. It's going back as a trade in when I pick up BO.

I outright suck at this one too (As I do Halo), being a Gears fan, I love that style of multiplayer, not the camp/snipe style of COD


Wouldn't knock the game because of that though. Though I do enjoy the objective based playlists, just free for all types I get bitch slapped


I'll certainly have Black Ops on day of release and enjoy the Veteran run through, assuming Treyarch don't give the enemies infinite grenades again :x


The only thing that ever really annoyed me about COD was on WaW - Had a quick look through the achievement list the other night for BOps, WaW had a 0 point (360) achievement for reaching 10th prestige, VERY pleased they haven't done anything like that this time around, as it does nothing but encourage boosting for those of us not very good at the MP (I am getting better but geez some guys out there are amazing). You obviously want a challenge, but like with the Gears 100 achievement (Took me 10 months to go from 50-100), it's simply not achieveable for those who get constantly smashed by far better players.

Outside of that, I don't get the hate for COD. Hell, COD 2 remains one of the most enjoyable games I've played. Of course, there are alot of annoyingly fan boi'ish types out there which may not help.

FTR I am a fan of MW2. Dont play much these days, but I became a far better player when I started watching guys like Foulge, Tryhardninja and others on Youtube.

Black Ops clearly says "Multiplayer is free" in the Multiplayer menu. That they actually went to an effort to program that into the screen - They wouldn't go back on that?


That will be the moment I stop buying their releases, I already pay for my Live service, I shouldn't if buying a brand new game also then have to pay the software house to play online.
