Waste of time? Parramatta finished 5th, not first or second. All it takes is for two out of the Bulldogs, Rabbitohs and Broncos to win and it's bye bye for the loser of the Eels v Warriors game!

AND (assuming the top 4 wins)

If we Lose on Friday and then win next week we play Manly at the SFS

If we Win this Friday and we Win next week we Play Melbourne in Melbourne.

Which do you prefer?

So the top 4 sides always have a home semi, right up to the GF?

First Week - Top 4 have home field advantage.

Second Week

Teams will be re-ranked for Week Two according to their results from Week One.
The two highest-ranked winners from Week One automatically progress to Week Three whilst the two remaining winners from Week One host games in Week Two against the two highest-ranked losers from Week One.
- Venues
Week Two of the Finals will feature Home City Finals at 7.45pm on Saturday, September 15, and 4pm on Sunday, September 16.
The following Home City venues may qualify to host a Final in Week Two: Sydney – Sydney Football Stadium, Telstra Stadium; Townsville - Dairy Farmers Stadium; Melbourne – Olympic Park, Telstra Dome; Auckland - Mt Smart Stadium.
A decision on when each match will be played will be made following the completion of Week One Finals matches. The two winners from the Semi-Final matches will progress to the Preliminary Finals with the two losers eliminated.
- Tickets
Tickets will be available to home and away season ticket holders of the competing clubs from 9am on Monday, September 10, and to the general public from 9am on Tuesday, September 11.
Home and away season ticket holders of the competing clubs will have access to tickets in different parts of the venue. Supporter bays will be set up where possible.

Third Week
The two highest-ranked winners from Week One will host Preliminary Finals against the two Semi-Final winners.
- Venues
Week Three of the Finals will feature Home Region Finals at 7.45pm on Saturday, September 22, and 4pm on Sunday, September 23.
The following venues may qualify to host a Final in Week Three: Sydney Football Stadium, Telstra Stadium, Suncorp Stadium, Dairy Farmers Stadium, Telstra Dome and Mt Smart Stadium. A decision on where and when the matches will be played will be made following the completion of Week Two of the Finals.
- Ticket Sales
Tickets will be available to home and away season ticket holders of the competing clubs from 9am on Monday, September 17, and to the general public from 9am on Tuesday, September 18.
Home and away season ticket holders of the competing clubs will have access to tickets in different parts of the venue. Supporter bays will be set up where possible.
Should Melbourne host a Final in Week Three, tickets will go so sale to Storm season ticket holders a week earlier, on September 10, from 12pm and to the general public on Tuesday, September 11, also from 12pm. This is due to the unique Melbourne market and the size of the Telstra Dome venue. The time is later so as not to clash with the on-sale of AFL Finals tickets.

A generous allocation of tickets will be reserved for season ticket holders of their opponents, to go on sale on Monday, September 17. All remaining tickets will go on sale again on Tuesday, September 18, from 9am.

If I were the coach I would forfeit this week and go into Camp to play the Cowboys in a fortnight................
But a forfeit wouldn't work if the Cowboys were then to lose.

The stupidest thing about the current system is that no-one knows what they are playing for. As a fan you can't get properly excited, and likewise the players can't get mentally prepared as if it is a sudden-death game. You can talk all you like about that fact that they are professionals and should prepare as if it's sudden death, but it's just not possible to trick your brain in that way. This actually scares me a bit, as our team reminds me a lot of that St George team that got knocked out - up and down and the tendency to switch off when playing in those so-called 'less important matches'.

The other thing that is stupid - as has been mentioned - is that losing is sometimes better than winning.

AFL system is much better.

Wouldn't matter if Cowboys were to lose. It would only matter if Souths or Broncs win also.

Get with the program people !!

i was under the impression its just week 1 for home semis .... then week 2 - if a winner in week 1 is a non-sydney team then they get a home game - otherwise its in sydney (sfs or telstra) .... but then i thought week 3, ie GF qualifiers, were sydney games???

(oh - i should have read the next page before posting this :lol:0

Yes it is important, this round we get rid of two teams, by forfeiting, you can basically say, that you don't think they other teams will lose. That is a joke and if you are happy enough to rely on other teams then you do so at your peril.

This is semi final football and someones season ends on Sunday night, if you want to be part of next week you win. If you don't win, you are fodder for winners next week and get to stay around on a sympathy clause. No this means everything, you have to win, to this is what we all look forward to and anyone thinking we can loose and still be around next week is a defeatist in the highest regard. If you can't get your mind around winning being the only thing, (B-Tron 3000, i am looking at you) then you are mentally week and will take the path of least resistance, you know where that path leads to. I can tell you, and early mad Monday and bucket loads of unsatisfied dreams. From now on it is Win only, nothing else matters. Control your own destiny.

I don't know what to think.

I want to end up on Manly's side of the draw, but I don't want to take the risk of two lower teams than us winning.

I'll hedge my bets on losing.

FFS, the Cowboys did it in '05 and made the Grand Final, why can't we??

The only reason MITS doesn't want to lose is because he's paying sh*tloads to go and watch us win.

Someones season will also end on Saturday night!!

2 teams lose on Saturday, the lowest ranked loser of that night is OUT!

UNLESS the 2 lower ranked teams WIN, in which case the loser of the Parra/NZ game is OUT.

Wake up people - this IS A MORTAL WOUND GAME!

Yes, it's not sudden death as in the loser isn't instantly eliminated, but the loser suffers a mortal wound and may well perish in the next day or 2!
