It’s a Kind Of Magic

The Brits tv shows all round were funnier in the ole days, but I digress, Fawlty Towers was bellyaching funny every episode, even as a kid I'd be laughing very loud.
It's a classic - 12 rip roaring episodes.

People wonder why more of them weren't made. Well, Cleese always maintained he preferred quality over quantity. Another reason why he didn't do the fourth season of Python, he felt they were repeating themselves.

So it was the same with Fawlty Towers. 12 episodes and any more after that would see it diminish according to Cleese.

We do have to thank the Pythons though for it being created in the first place. It was only during filming sketches on location that they came upon the Gleneagles Hotel in Torquay and met the infamous Donald Sinclair who owned the hotel and on whom the character of Basil is based.

Rejected by the BBC at first (Cleese was advised to get the stories out of the hotel!), he and his wife at the time Connie Booth stuck at it and finally they were given the go ahead to start filming.

I read somewhere recently they are rebooting it.
Cleese seems to think they’ve found a way to do it, without detracting from the original.

Time will tell.

Yeah mate, I've heard this too. I would love to see it but I'm a bit sceptical. Cleese is still trying to pay alimony to his ex wives so he'll do anything to make a quid.

I am a huge Cleese fan but I think he is almost getting to the stage where he is past it both performing wise and creative wise. Apparently his daughter is also involved and is looking to play Sybil but I am sorry, anyone other than Prunella Scales just won't do.

Someone drives a dump trucks up to one of Mr Cleese’s many houses with one of his many wives and drops a tonne of cash to fill his empty swimming pool - is probally how it went down.
And he’s earned it - bloke has lost none of his wit and doesn’t give a fugg about any of the new moral comedy and let’s rip. Refreshing in this day and age

Basil !!!!!!!!!

Don't know whether it's been mentioned *and as a Cleese/Monty Python fan),Michael Palin(part of the Monty Python team) wife Helen died after 57 years of marriage at age 79.
Loved the German episode when Basil keeps bringing up the war to the German guests.
Back on subject. The field should be well "ploughed" by the time we get on it.Just don't get an ACL Nicho champ.

'Cause you don't appear to have considered what other teams will do when saying if Sharks win 3/3 they are on top. Not if the Donkeys also win 3/3. Even if the Boncs drop games there's also Storm Rabbits and Roosters on 12 points with us who might get 3/3.

Yeah cracker. Porridge was also a fairly good. Yes Minster is as relevant now as it was then.

I never saw a lot of Porridge, it was a little before my time, but there’s one line I’ve never forgotten:

Some new prisoner asks Ronnie Barker “what are you in for?”
Ronnie says “I got caught”. Classic.

We’re begging for a reaming. Special occasions for the other team, means we lay down.

I think it is. If we're serious contenders we can overcome that, or at least learn from it.

Pushing a single game in a season +-10% one way or the other shouldn't matter.
It's a fair point considering the club may not not even make any profit on home games at current capacity. It was said a few years ago they need something like 13,000 at a Shark Park game to break even.

It’s a business. Plain and simple.
I don’t have an issue with it.
If you getting 8000 odd to a warm-ish Thursday night game with clear weather - that’s not a great model for making $$$$.
The only way the club survives is making decisions that are economically viable.

Hate that song.
I don’t mind Queen, but since their renaissance they play it over and over on FM radio.
I will say though the single was attached to a kick ass movie Highlander back in the day. If you haven’t seen it - get on it.
