I prefer Lumelume, he can break a tackle and has more speed. He's also very safe under the high ball. I remember him playing for Storm and absolutely killing it. He left for personal reasons and was stuck in doggies reserve grade. I thought he played well tonight except for that loose carry
Yeah, take away those 2 minutes when he dropped the ball and missed the tackle and he was very good tonight. It’s a shame that’s what his Eels debut will be remembered for.

I thought we would wrap that game up at the end of regular time, but some poor errors cost us. In golden point our inability to properly set up a field goal cost us again.

I was happy with Hodgson, Doorey and Hopgood. Thought Cartwright played well. Lumelume was good until that knock on, then he fell apart. Murchie looks sloooooow. Hopefully he improves with more fitness.

Like everyone, disappointed with Moses and Brown. But hey, game 1 of a long season, so let's not get too carried away.

Killing it? Every time I’ve seen him play he has a brain explosion. I remember when Melbourne were flying in 2021 and he continuously made errors for us to win the game against that star studded side. Even tonight he got the ball stripped and then followed it up with a terrible defensive read to let in the crucial match equalling try.

I'm calling it now. We're gonna end up at the bottom four of the table. I saw their body language tonight and it said, we can't be f**ked grinding out another 26 rounds

This. For all the proponents of Brad Arthur's 16 player 17 man teams.
70 minutes total from our bench. Unfortunately none of them are really NRL competent. Murchie can probably be an occasional No. 17, but the rest are always going to be a problem when we have to use them.

Not using Makatoa at all, not giving Greig more minutes late in the game, not factoring in any break for Hodgson and Hopgood in the middle, in the first game of the year in early March... and ultimately losing the game straight up the guts at the end. Yep, nothing to see alright.

These are all different propositions to the post I responded to mate, you aint putting middles on to cover outside backs when you have edge forwards available.

Apparently David Fifita is on $1.2

I’ve seen some absolutely dreadful plays by DCE and I’ve even seen Cleary implode.

Mate, it happens.
It wasn't just a few stupid things. It was constantly choosing the wrong options. It honestly felt like the halves knew they weren't needing to prove themselves for contracts anymore, especially Brown.

I think there was a lot of positives. The main one being we had a forward pass try denied which was a fair try.
And our halves couldn't play that bad ever again surely? They where gash yet we still took the Storm all the way.

I was impressed by Hopgood,Doorey and Bryce.
We looked like our attack had trained at Jim Crowgey Reserve at times.
