Gould's said it's his call, and his opinion that Ivan's toasted... in essence there's just a difference of opinion?

Gould is smarter than that, he's been around a long time. He knows someone isn't toast in the middle of one tough year. He signed Cleary to be exactly that, someone tough who was prepared to ride out a couple of bad years at Penrith. Ivan had an awful year in 09 (I remember calls for his head) and bounced back.

You're right though it's all opinion, and mine is that Gould used that as a convenient line to use in a press release. That's okay though, he's made his bed and it may not be a good night's sleep for a while

I'm sure Ivan would be after something rather longer than a year. He has many years left in him as a senior coach.
