The bad news (from that renowned sports columnist Peter FitzSimons in this weeks Fitz Files - http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/02/06/1075854064062.html):

Long wait for a title

The Herald reported on Thursday that Middlesbrough have reached the final of the English League Cup and will play Bolton Wanderers. What went unmentioned was that although "The Boro", as Middlesbrough are known to their fans, were founded in 1876 and officially joined the Football League in 1899, the net number of titles they have won to this point is - a moment while I reach for my calculator - none. Am I right in thinking the closest we come to having this sort of club in Australia is the Cronulla Sharks?

The good news:

That at least you're only the laughing stock of Australian sport, and not the whole world. There is someone worse than your club (although I have faith that you can beat Middlesbrough's record).

Disco stu,

Look we are working on losing that tag, everyone will underestimate us this year, and we will strike.

Anyway only one club has the tag the a laughing stock of world sport - the Dragqueens.

5 grandfinals 5 massive chokes!!!!!!

Its always a dead giveaway when someone goes out of their way to register a new name for a new thread. Disco Stu aka Rooster Cogburn?

Hmmmm, a record of 11 grand final wins in a row, compared to an Australian record for most years without winning anything.

But I think Wobbygong might be onto something. It's a cunning plan alright. Lose for so long that everyone will underestimate you, and then STRIKE!!!!! I love it. That plan is so crazy, it might just work.

That team died at the same time Illawarra died.

http://www.megspace.com/arts/dcs/images/xxdead_saints.htm

"In order for the merger or joint venture to proceed, it was necessary for both St George & Illawarra football clubs to enter into a written deed of agreement ( a contract). In the deed, the clubs agreed to form a new company called "St George- Illawarra". The deed included an agreement to create a board of directors, share resources, to provide capital, establish a CEO, employ staff, to allocate an initial budget subject to review and for both clubs to agree not to separately apply to, or actually ever again compete as themselves in the NRL. "

Dead and buried.

Take it, it's yours but remember there are very few people as dumb as Dimi so you won't get many opportunities.

The crying shame about what Fitz says is that he's right. My idea of going gracefully is to cop an immediate fatal heart attack right after the full time bell rings out Cronulla's first premiership. Then I'd die with a smile on my face, just like the stars of `The Case of the Smiling Stiffs'.
North Sydney Bears won the comp in 1921 & 1922

just like the stars of `The Case of the Smiling Stiffs'.

A mate of mine managed to pick that up cheap on DVD recently.

I realise Norths won it back in the Dark Ages, I just took it as a run without winning it.

The Swans also won it when they were South Melbourne.

PJ Where and what quality is the Case of The Smiling Stiffs? Better still what did it cost.
My Dad's 3 favourite movies are Bad Boy Bubby,Weekend At Bernies (not the sequels) and Case of The Smiling Stiffs.
I know he owns the other 2 movies.
What was the guys name in it? Long john Silverdick or something?
