Bird will get be offered a huge upgrade and the Cronulla captaincy.
If he turns that down it will be to go the the Bronco's with a big chance to crack the Australian team.
Dragons have very little chance of 2 big signings in a short space of time as any really smart player will want to see how it pans out for Hunt.

Has Milne ever played much on the wing in the past? Because if he hasn't which of the 3 centres are we going to drop/release? Dugan, Aitkin or Milne? We can't keep them all if one of them can't play wing. This is going to be a nightmare. All 3 would do a good job in the centres imo. Unless we used Aitken off the bench, maybe we could squeeze all of them in. Quite the dilemma we have on our hands.

Luckily we have super coach to take care of this one for us.
What about Dufty on the wing, Duges at fullback (to alternate, so Dufty isn't overwhelmed and get's use to 1St grade)

You see that's your problem. You guys have no juniors. So instead of poaching other clubs juniors like Ben Hunt and Jack Bird you should start developing your own juniors.

All of the other clubs do it, it's time you dragons fans pick up your game.

I heard from a second hand source from someone connected to Cronulla that Bird's back is shot or his arthritis needs constant management or something along those lines. Cronulla are willing to pay big $$$ in short contracts.

I can't vouch for the source but trust them enough that any long and lucrative contract offered to Bird would make me cringe slightly.

Jai Field is the future 5/8 hopefully anyway.

Spot on
His arthritis has to be constantly monitored.
It was part of the reason he left the dragons.
We wouldn't help him with the cost of the injections and Sharks would.
He has to have these to be able to play.

Ray,
You are a self declared lurker so how the hell do you not know who is a junior player and who is a senior player.
You have to stop lurking at the senior citizens centre.
We are all truly glad you post here because we can all help with your education.
Todays lessons
Lesson 1
Every player in the game was at one point someone's junior.
Lesson 2
If you look across the rosters of every club their NRL squad is littered with players who were once someone else's junior.
Lesson 3
Ben Hunt at almost 27 years of age is no longer a junior and is a free agent on an open market so this does not constitute poaching.
Lesson 4 Read some posts and threads before posting because that will hopefully stop you posting dumb comments like the one about Bird.

But don't be discouraged keep coming back and you will learn a few more things each and every day.

The person I spoke to suggested it was more so an issue with perceived longevity than the cost of the injections. But the point stands, making a play would be considered high risk.

Come on Ray, that can't be your best effort. Surely if you aspire to take over as the resident forum dickhead you can come up with something more creative.

Trolls eh, they don't make 'em like they used to.

If Jack Bird truly is a high risk signing due to his arthritis, then why doesn't the club go after a player like Mitch Moses?
Moses has proven himself, he's most likely going to be the future NSW 5/8 and will probably be demanding the same sort of money as Bird, maybe even less.
As unfortunate as it is that Jack's condition may hinder his future, why not go for someone just as good with a much lower risk factor?

Even remote accuracy can be tolerated on a forum of this nature , however to put this bluntly, Ray you are a mouth breather at best, the sharks had one local junior when they won the comp.... please attempt to know your stuff in future & stop wasting peoples time.

Could not disagree more, it seemed like a weak attempt on the surface but you simply need to look at the results to conclude that he's done well to hook a whole lot of suckers on this bait.

I'd be putting him in the top tier of trolls that we've had through in the last few years, up there with Vasilevsky TBH. Sure, he's not here for a long time (I give him 2 months before he gets bored or adopts another avatar) but he's come here and made a great impact across a number of threads, hooked a whole lot of fools andstirred some good shit. Well done to him, and those who are getting fired up at him only have themselves to blame.

Come on, the only reason we might actually have a chance at Bird (and we don't even know if that's true) is because he used to play here and was a local. We aren't getting Moses, there will be too much competition. We would be better off trying to sign Brooks but there will be competition there too.

Agreed, the competition for Moses will be insane, I guarantee the Broncos would be after him now as well.
Bird is a realistic option, but if it doesn't eventuate, I'm sure Jai Field will me more than up to the task when 2018 comes around. It's sort of a win win either way.

Didn't realise Bird's arthritis was that bad.Had heard we looked after him in the u20's.He could still be an option on a short term deal(while we wait and see if Field comes through) if the reports are right & he's so keen.
