If Hook is sacked and Hunt decides to walk, should the Dragons sign Jack Whiton? I would think a Sullivan Whiton halves combo would be great for the Dragons given the chances are that Amone will receive some penalty following his trial and could be out beyond the term of his contract so, it would be prudent to consider this now to avoid further stress with regards to our spine.

If for example, Amone is acquitted or only receives a fine, there is the potential to move him to another position such as lock or center or, simply let him go.

Your thoughts?

No

It is unlikely Hunt will leave even if Hook is axed, he just posturing in his support of him being captain.

Wighton would also absolutely crash our salary cap and is more on the downside as a player than he was 2 or 3 years ago. If Souths or the Phins wants to spend that much coin then let them.

Wighton is no big deal. Think he is talked up to be more than what he is cause he is mates with the Latrells and walkers of league. To me he would be a perfect fit for a wide running back rower / lock as he does have speed and power. Oh and he is Ricky favourite so that helps him being talked up. See how those journos turn on him once he walks away from Ricky

There is no way Wighton would come here anyway; it's clearly not about money.. he is taking next level unders to sign with a Top4 side.. But you are right... he would be a good straight swap for Hunt (with Sullivan @7).. but money and length of contract.. i'd rather take a punt on someone younger.. or buy some rep forwards..

This whole Wighton thing though, is just another example of the rich clubs get richer.. and it's so challenging for a poor club to close the roster gap.

For the money it would take out of our cap a big NO. Also big career has peaked so getting him on the Down slide.
With the possibility that Hunt will go if Griffin goes, there should be more than enough cap to go round in 2024-2026.

Saints should be getting into Su’a’s ear and having a crack at Keaon Koloamatangi whilst Souths are crunching the numbers for Wighton. Throw the $$$ at him
Apparently Souths are ringing around all their players coming off contract in advance to reassure them they have the money left over to re-sign them.. but id definitely make a play at a couple of their good ones.. our problem is we need to sign the coach first before we can take a crack.

Hasler is the man and should be the target. Sign him up and we will have no trouble attracting good players. He developed Cherry-Evens and Foran and grabbed a couple of our reserve-grade wingers and turned them into stars. He also developed the Turbo boys into SOO standard players.
