Jackson Hastings is Pearce 2.0

Jesus f**k.

Hopefully he can sort out whatever attitude problems he has because he should be on track to a halfways productive career.

It's also pretty f**king awful that a cadre of 'senior players' who experienced this kind of toxicity less than 5 years ago would engage in this behaviour. This joint has really gone to the dogs since the current ownership took over.

Hastings will turn out to be a very, very good player.

But yeah, heaps punchable face.

No he is a decent nsw cup level talent who was fast tracked to the top of the pile constantly because of his last name. Players at manly now refusing to play with him so he’s obviously a toxic personality as well, the guy was never going to be anything.

Well I was half right - still super punchable face!

He's too good for NSW Cup but too much of a merkin for NRL.

As for Pearce 2.0, Pearce had played Origin by 19 while Hastings is getting punted from his 3rd club by 22.

Cant argue. I was just pointing out some similarities I saw in their situations, obviously they are not the same and Mitch is a much better player.

Hastings is just one kid who always had a big wrap on him but never impressed me on the field. His attitude looked off from the first time I saw him, he did have his moments but I could never really see what the hype was about.

if they won't play with him that suggests a lot more than a "personality clash"

You could tell as soon as he came into grade that this sort of stuff was going to happen, even without knowing the guy. He had 'I'm so great' written all over him but didn't have the next level talent to justify it.

I remember a try the Roosters scored in a drubbing of Souths (?) in his first year, where he threw a piss poor ball to Pearce who soccer kicked it through to score. Hastings performed like he'd just won the GF with a 75m field goal, running around taunting the crowd, pulling the fingers etc.

It's sad though, I know he's sought professional help in the past for how he deals with all of this.

a whole group of players not wanting to play with someone. if true, it's just WOW! there are different personalities within a group environment, but everyone manages to get along for the same cause. i can't ever recall a professional rugby league team wanting to boot a player out of the joint. Hastings is either a royal merkin, or has some massive problems to deal with.

The sadder part is his father, Kevin, was one of the most humble yet talented footballers you ever met. He was a gun halfback who came through the top grade at the same time as Peter Sterling and Steve Mortimer so he never got much of a chance to shine at rep level as he was often behind them both.

Away from the field Hastings is an amiable young kid that can be quite likable.
Unfortunately he has moments where he is an absolute fruit cake, none of it has anything to do with drugs or alcohol. This seems to be exacerbated when on the field.
He can be like a 6 year old that hasn't been taught boundaries

Yeah, when he was on the outs at the Roosters in late 2016, the Dragons were reportedly keen to sign him.

Story goes that Widdop watched him play a 20's game at the time where he proceeded to abuse his team mates, the opposition, the ref and anyone who came near him. Widdop swiftly told management that if they signed that f**kwit, then he was out of there.

Horrie Hastings always seemed like a good guy, but certainly appeared to be a sook when his son was dropped, and later cut from the Roosters:

Horrie was not always treated well by the powers that be at the Roosters towards the end of his career. Add in he is a Dad sticking up for his son I can understand it from his point of view. What people forget was Jackson didn't grow up with Kevin around, Kevin was estranged from his Mother. AS such he didn't really start to get to know Jackson till he was in his teens (if I've heard correctly) as Kevin lived for a good chunk of time in the USA whilst Jackson was growing up in Wollongong.
