Moltzen, I shudder every time he is mentioned.
Is it true that he was found embedded in Benji suitcase with a snow hat and gum boots on, wide eyed, dribbling and jibbering about "Mary had a little lamb"?

Moltzen was eyeing a move to St Helens, who of the last few years have struggled to replace Kyle Eastmond in the halves.

I wake up every day hoping to read that Moltzen has signed with someone else. If it hasn't happened yet my guess would be that he will be here next year. Would Potter dare play him at 5/8 along side Brooks next year ?

I know Moltzen gets a lot of (probably justified) hate on this board but if he does end up staying for next season, he might not be the worst choice for 5/8.

Looking at the options - Siro is a natural choice but if Potter is looking at using him more at second row/lock then he will not be playing 5/8 and we will need another option. Anasta is past it and I wouldn't want to see him in the 17 next season. Austin is an unknown, but has potential and could be quite handy at 5/8. Moses by all accounts looks the goods but would preferably need at least one more year to put on a bit more size.

So that leaves us with Moltzen. Previously when he was playing at 7, he was basically moving the ball from Farah to Benji and running off them. When he did that he scored some good tries and whilst not the strongest defender he did enough. He came back from one ACL injury and seemed to keep his pace so with him in the backline it adds another player with speed and it is not like he would be over-calling Brooks the way that Benji might have.

I think you might be onto something there Magpie Guy. Moses is the future #6, but I can't see that future starting in Round 1 next year. Moltzen can do general kicking duties, like restarts, line drop outs and kicks for touch just as well as Anasta can and his general play can't be much worse. Despite Anasta managing to catch Chase Stanley on the weekend, you'd have to say Moltzen is significantly faster.

I reckon if Tauber can't get him an ESL gig or drum up any interest from Japanese Rugby, he'd be hard pressed finding a club in the NRL that would be interested at the moment. A year with that hanging over his head with a no nonsense coach, playing outside the next big thing could be the perfect environment for him to put in a great year and earn a spot at somewhere like Canberra, who have shed Dugan, Williams and now possibly Milford and Fathead Fergo.

I must say in theory it does sound good.

Moltzen had a shit year in 2012, but this year he has actually gone alright. He honestly would be a decent 5/8 partner with Brooks as he is quick and can find a hole. Anasta on the other hand has a much better deep kicking game than Moltz and is much better in defense. Either player would only be filling in untill Moses is ready but lets just say Brooks breaks his leg (God forbid).......Having Molzten around would be handy

Best 7 we've had in years!!!!
Considering Jacob has only played 9 games with Hull he's played pretty well so far, getting more confident and settling in! from what iv seen he has good defence, good kicking game, step, pace . The more games he plays no doubt he will get better, remember hes only young and i am sure he will go back to NRL after establishing himself in SL!
