he was sacked in the off season, yet 2 months into the season he is reinstated and playing in the top flight for the same team. not necessarily the biggest deterant.

hopefully he has got his life in order and learnt a pretty valuable lesson, but we will have to wait and see about it.

He also lost a six figure contract and is now on the smallest salary possible in the NRL. To kid that age it's a pretty hard lesson to learn.

Alternatively he could have been sacked, Roosters want nothing to do with him, and he goes to the Dragqueens.

We put so much development into the kid, why should we be punished if he stuffs up?

I think you've got the roles reversed. We're generally the team that does the developing.

Ha yeah like Boyd, Soward, Saffy, Weyman, Priddis, Smith, Costigan, Fien etc

Even if they aren't juniors per se:
Costigan
Hardly a world beater before he got here, in fact got sacked from the Broncos if I remember correctly and had an interlude at Canberra, he is a model of consistency NOW because of Bennett, at Saints
Soward
The roosters tossed him out, Saints took him on and developed him per se, a lot of his game was already there, but I don't think he would have had the 2009 he had if he remained at the roosters.
Weyman
As per Costigan, a testament to suspension whilst at the Raiduers, since moving to Saints has enjoyed rep honours, credit to Saints on that one
Priddis
I didn't see that many other clubs clamoring for his signature, even Bennett was convinced his time was up last year, sorry for "stealing" him off the open market
Saffy
And you give a sh*t because?
He is a stop gap on our bench, a bloody good one at times, but f**k me running, surely you aren't crying into your pillow that you didn't sign the bloke that copped a wrap over the knuckles for biting and is on his way to Rah Rah?
Fien
Unwanted by the Warriors, found a home and a new lease of life at Saints, once again, hardly pillaged from someone desperate to obtain his services.
Smith
Not developed by Saints.
Boyd
Not developed by Saints, but playing a f**kload better since he has been here and been given his position at fullback.

Honestly, most teams had ample chances to sign all but two of those players for five tenths of f**k all and make something of them, those teams didn't and now that opportunity is gone, it is not like they were at the top of their game at other clubs and were pilfered by choice, Weyman & Costigan in particular were noted trouble makers on the field (Weyman) and off it (Costigan).
Saints raided nothing, they bought and created.

Are you denying you buy players from other clubs?
No, but I am 100% certain that had those players gone to many other clubs under many other coaches they would not be where they are now, we need only look what the Newcastle life style done to Houston and Wicks.

Look I'm sorry you wasted your time writing something I didn't give a sh*t about.

But if the Dragons signed Jake Friend and he fulfilled his potential he'd be another one on your bullsh*t list who was a "discard" from another club.

The fact is your club buys a sh*tload of players, don't try to deny it.

They "develop" a sh*tload too, don't forget that bit.
Blood in, blood out.

Considering some peoples definition of development seems to stretch to a player merely signing a contract for a club and doing f**k all whilst there, you could say Saints have developed an absolute f**kload of players, even Daniel Motherf**king Wagon for f**ks sake!

If that's an insult (your club buys players!) its a pretty f**king broad one, I think you'll find every club does

It wasn't an insult. It was a statement of fact. If you get all upset by the facts and take them as insults then that's your problem.

And?,

The following are saints developed juniors:

Cooper
Young
Morris
Hunt
Creagh
Hornby
Nightingale
Prior
Merrin
Scott

Still a pretty good ratio of bought and bred.

Yeah it is a good ratio, you're a great junior-breeding club and I never tried to say anything to the opposite.

But you do also recruit players. That's all I ever said. And to say you don't is a lie.

Congrats on a great career Jake. I think you’re a great example of the personal growth that can be encouraged in a young man when he is part of the NRL.

Shame it had to end this way, but you’ve had a career that many players would envy. Good luck in the future.

The guy retires in sad circumstances after a great career and the response is a salary cap joke

Keep the jealousy alive and keep paying Brooks and Joey Leulia ridiculous amounts

Great career for a very solid bloke and player. Good call to give it up before the eggs are too scrambled.
