I think it is time to bring young Mullaney into first grade,we need a goalkicker badly or we are going to miss the semis again. He is also a great attacking player, I know he is not the biggest bloke going around,Lote could move back on the fifth tackle to defuse any bombs. This would also allow Ryan to go back to the wing and get rid of Fitzhenry, can't tackle, can't make a break, the worst footballer to play 1st grade I have seen since 1956.

There's been worse than Fitzy

Ryan should stay at fullback, he's been exactly what we need there. We don't need another great attacking weapon, Benji + Arana J (hopefully) and Farah will be enough with Tuqiri, Lawrence, Ayshford and co running off them.

Mullaney's goal kicking isn't exactly great either, he'd still likely be the worst kicker in the comp. I think it's time to give Lawrence, Tuqiri or Farah a shot.

I agree, they may not slot every sideline conversion but I can live with that, it's the easy misses that drive me frigin insaine.

And even if they aren't better, Benji probably gets disheartened by missing goals and tries harder than he should in other facets of the game. At least this way Benji won't overplay his hand and likely be a better player in general play.

Before we even think about promoting anyone from lower grades FFS why dont WT / Teflon try out existing squad players for kicking ability? Ryan is doing a damn good job at fullback and definitely does not deserve getting the boot (pardon the pun).

Neither can Fitzhenry - at least Mullaneys goalkicking can contribute to the team.

Yeah. He didn't make a single effective tackle on Friday night in the NRL game.

Oh wait I am thinking about Jake missing everything he tried to tackle.

He has talent but ffs some people over-rate where the kid is at now

Agree about Ryan - Fitzhenry would go if you were to bring someone in. And I dont care whether you bring Mullaney up or let someone in the existing squad kick as long as Benji does not.

I can hear the cogs clicking over...

Sheens - "Right, Lazurus was an unmitigated disaster... too small, no confidence, years from being a FG footballer..."

Simmons - "What about Mullaney?"

Sheens - "Good idea number 2"

--

Some of the people here really should apply to be our coach, they'd fit in just fine.

Jake Mullaney was undoubtedly in the top 10 players in the whole Toyota Cup competition last season and from what i`ve seen so far this season, he certainly hasn`t gone backwards. Plenty of others have stepped up from the Toyota Cup last season and are proving themselves as very good first graders this season.
You say he can`t tackle, he has made plenty of one on one try saving tackles both last season and again this season. Being the last line, even the best defenders are going to miss some tackles.

My info tells me that Sheens and the coaching staff have no fears about Jake Mullaney handling first grade, they just want to try and bring him along slowly.
