So many people claim inside knowledge on this forum, I'm beginning to think it is Tim, Royce, Steve, Andrew, Wayne etc uses aliases....

My info is from a rival Toyota Cup coach, who is trying to get a start with the Wests Tigers and therefore is in close contact with our coaching staff. He told me the plan is to give Jake Mullaney a taste of first grade later this season.

Mmmm, never blood anyone again, theres a thought...

Would you blood me? No? So why would you blood someone who is also not up to FG standard, especially after what we saw last week?

Taumata is sitting around doing nothing, despite having carved NRL.

U got the SITTING part correct. He is still injured.

I hope he gets another run later in the week to try prove fitness.

Mullaney is not a consistent enough goalkicker, he'll have weeks where he kicks them all, but every now and then he'll have a week where he'll miss 4 or 5.

And I have my doubts about his goalkicking ability when he's under pressure.

If he had've kicked the one goal he missed in the GF last year, that match would have went into extra time.

Instead the Tigers lost by 2.

I don't think he's anywhere near close enough yet, he needs to do some serious weights and defence work.

Regardless, he is kicking at a much higher percentage than Benji - unless you have another alternative, it is a step up to have Mullaney kicking.

We have alternatives but Sheens or Benji won't give them a go.
No point blooding someone just for kicking goals and hoping he wont be a liability elswhere on the field.
I'll be happy if he gets 20 minutes here and there this year.

As I have already said - I don't care if they let Todd Payten kick if he puts over more than Benji, but we need to do SOMETHING.

If he`s not ready for first grade, he`s proving for the second straight year that he`s a class above the Toyota Cup and a far better option than Blake Lazarus at fullback. I know Lazarus is really a halfback, not a fullback, but with Tim Sheens way of thinking who would you prefer at the back, Lazarus or Mullaney ???

We kept Lazarus for two years while he recovered from injury.....for that ?

Don't like the idea of these small fullbacks as the last line of Defence.

Not a fan of either but ... Yes Mullaney is a far better option than Lazarus.

Lazarus was the best fullback in the NYC for the games he played before his season ending injury.

I think too many people underestimate the gap between NYC & NRL

Coedi Towney is the best example of this and he was a bigger build than Jake. He couldn't even cut it is State Cup

You have certainly named yourself well. Coedi Towney is not, never has been and never will be in the same class as Jake Mullaney. Have a look at the build of Billy Slater when he first came into first grade and compare that to that of Jake Mullaney`s and you`ll find it`s very similar. Would you say Billy Slater is too small to play fullback for the Wests Tigers ???

My point was on the step up from NYC to NRL.

Towney was lauded by plenty as deserving a spot in the NRL and now he is playing Bundy Red Cup.

I want Jake to play at least one State Cup game to see where he is really at in terms of development. Especially considering he has been very rocks and diamonds in form this year

Jake reminds me of Lachlan Coote. I wouldn't complain if he gets a crack.

Very similar player and Coote cetainly caused us plenty of trouble on Saturday night as he has to most other rival teams this season. No need to rush Mullaney, but i`m sure he`s ready whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Lachlan Coote has always been a star, he was SG Ball player of the Year in 2007 and of course played for Australian Schoolboys in the same year.

Mullaney struggled at SG Ball level he went from Hooker to halfback to fullback in the 2008 season.

Towney was an idiot and it didn't take the coaching staff long to work that out.

Mullaney has been very lucky but he works hard and he has taken his chance...and good luck to him.

NRL I don't know its a big step up...but only one way to find out..he can't do any worse than Lazarus.

Mullaney is now the answer IMO-

Not for goal kicking just general play-

Fitzy gone

Ryan to wing

Mullaney fullback. As good ad Ryan has been at fullback( apart from the rooters game) he offers nothing in attack. ZERO.....Ryan is not a long term option at 1
