What does he have to do to get a run? He has been quiet but surely he is a better player than Kris Keating.

Yeah and surely Scott Prince is a better player than Trent Hodksinson?

It's a joke Prince didn't make the City team.

I feel for Soward, its almost like the selectors have red lined him before making a SOO apperance. Greg Bird picked ahead of Soward for country is just lol

Blues selectors must have seen him co-hosting Barefoot Rugby League a while back.

Interesting question here.

Do you reckon if Sandow was eligible for City he would've been picked?

Nah cos he's sh*te at the moment. However if he was a nswelshman & became more consistant, maybe win a dally-m and a title im sure he'd get plenty of chances

Laurie Daley has had it in on a personal level for Soward for a few years now. Was evident last year when he only got a run in the last ten minutes of the match. Wouldnt surprise me thats why Cooper has brushed the Country side as an "up yours" to Daley. My mail is that if it were anyone else coaching Country, Sowie would be a definite starter. But while Loz is in charge, its none and buckleys.

Never thought i'd say it but props to Daley then . Im not questioning his value in the current Dragons setup but Soward is just not a rep player .

As his performance in the All-Stars game clearly showed ........ lol.

Soward is not a player who will dominate a match when his forwards are getting bashed ... but when his forward pack is dominant, he strangles teams with his kicking game - probably the best in the NRL - and he produces solid play in the opposition 20m zone.

If NSW are looking for a half/five-eighth combination to win matches when their forwards are getting slaughtered, they will be looking for a long time ... there's a reason why players like Sterling, Kenny, Johns, Fittler are once-in-a-generation players ... Queensland are lucky enough to have two in Lockyer and Thurston now.

But if NSW backed their forwards to win the battle up front, I can't think of many five-eighths in NSW who would do a better job than Soward in making sure that QLD consistently have to bring the ball out of the corner and start their sets 10m out from their line ......

But whatever .. in the end I would much prefer that he remains a Dragon through the Origin period when half our team is out.

I concur but what I think is great about Soward is that if his forwards are tired and 5th tackle ends between the 30-40 - he makes up for the lost yards with that well aimed monster boot. If the forwards dominate then he has his run, step and cut out pass game as well.

The real reason is in my opinion he is not selected is because you'd have to select Beau Scott type player to make his tackles for him as is done at club level. This has been debated ad nausauem by me last year with Dragon fans. I think its possible ala Lockyer with Carrol but not as strong a case as that was.

If WB wanted to help advance Soward's origin chances he would have moved him to defend next to Cooper, thus both could reasonably be selected in the side.
