Lyon granted leave
15 March 2004
The Parramatta National Rugby League Club wishes to advise that Player Jamie Lyon has been granted leave to attend to personal issues.
Jamie and his manager came to see me as well as other management this morning, and I was happy to give him some time to sort out his personal issues. At this stage we are uncertain how long that will be, Eels coach Brian Smith said.
Jamie has been with the Club since he was 15 and has an impeccable record on and off the field. He is well regarded by everyone at our Club and we all respect his wishes during this time, Smith added.
The 22 year old has played 70 First Grade matches for Parramatta, and has represented Country, New South Wales and Australia.

Not good news for the Eels. He may have played ordinary at the weekend but he is still, in my opinion, their best player. He will be missed, and it sounds like it could be a while
